Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Benefits Generalist is responsible for the coordination and day to day operations of the employee benefits.
Position includes responsibility for benefit programs, benefits records administration, wellness programs, and communications of HR programs and policies. Assists in analyzing, modifying, and designing policies and benefit plans to ensure benefit programs are equitable and meet legislative requirements. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organizational standards.
This incumbent will be expected to promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities of: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI), communication, competent people and clear priorities. QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years’ experience with benefits and in Human Resources is required. Excellent computer skills and advanced HRIS skills are required, as well as extensive experience with ADP. In accordance with policy, successful candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check and State fingerprinting criminal record check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and understand general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence, and internal communications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
With the use of a calculator, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Through the use of a spreadsheet software package, ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY :
By the nature of Human Resources, ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
None required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Experience with word processing and spreadsheets required; knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel preferred. Ability to work with all levels of staff and management required. Ability to work discreetly with highly confidential information and documentation required.
