Job Title: Senior Paralegal or Paralegal | Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Hourly - Non-Exempt
Reports To: Owner, CEO
Work Schedule: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday-Friday (Hybrid) - First 90 days is on-site. Based on performance the position may move to a hybrid setting.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Case Manager will assist the attorney(s) with pre-litigation negotiation and settlements as well as provide clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, fact checking; and trial preparation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Negotiating case settlements with insurance carriers and reductions for outstanding medical balances with providers.
  • Works with a team of case support specialists, medical record coordinators, and client liaisons as well as oversees and prioritizes the case load.
  • Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
  • Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
  • Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
  • Performs daily interaction with existing and potential clients, via telephone and in person.
  • Orders medical records from providers and communicates with clients and providers during the course of treatment.
  • Obtains documents necessary to support injury and/or liability positions.
  • Interacts with healthcare providers to secure records and account balances.
  • Coordinates with coworkers involved in the management and support of case files.
  • Organizes case files.
  • Prepares comprehensive demands and assemble support for submission to carriers.
  • Interacts with attorneys and presents case synopsis when required.
  • Assists in management of case files from intake to closing under the direction of a lead case manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience with four (4) years of experience handling all aspects of personal injury required. Prior experience in the legal field and strong negotiation skills is required. A certified negotiator (CNE) is preferred.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high ethics and integrity in all areas of work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job the employee works indoors in a semi-private work area as well as in a remote setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working outside of the office.
