The City of Hinesville is Hiring a Code Enforcement Officer Near Hinesville, GA

The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer. This position is responsible for enforcing the City of Hinesville’s Code of Ordinances and adopted codes in an effort to protect property values, decrease crime, improve safety, and to support, protect and enhance the overall quality of life of the citizens of Hinesville.
Major Duties Include:

  • Receives and responds to complaints and inquiries from the general public, city officials, and other agencies regarding possible code violations.
  • Field-generates cases of prohibited signs, violations within the view of a complaint site and serious violations, such as obstruction of view, blockage of drainage and illicit discharge.
  • Investigates complaints and inquiries by performing site visits. Interviews occupants, neighbors and any other case-related persons.
  • Documents findings, interviews and actions by video and photographs. Provides assistance and coordinates meetings among other departments and agencies.
  • Issues violation notices for code violations of the City of Hinesville Code of Ordinances and all other adopted codes. Prepares correspondences via email or certified mail.
  • Maintains a cloud-based online database documenting all actions, violations, documents, and evidence.
  • Performs extensive research via water accounts, Georgia Corporations Division, Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority (GSCCA), Liberty County court dockets, jail inmate search, police reports, fire reports, property tax records, Ft. Stewart Civil Liaison, Accurint reports, and online searches using Google, Spokeo, whitepages.com, Facebook, obituaries, etc.
  • Prepares court documents such as Rule Nisi, Inspection Warrant and request for Subpoena of witnesses.

Skills in effective communication, mediation, research, problem solving and the ability to read a map, understand and interpret codes and laws is required by the position. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, possession of or ability to obtain an ICC certification for Property Maintenance and Housing Inspectors within one year of hire and the possession of a valid State of Georgia driver’s license.
