Job Title: Director, Operations

Location: Phoenix, AZ

The After Market Service (AMS) Group, a division of Dover Food Retail (DFR) the total solution provider for any refrigeration challenges, is looking for a dynamic Director of Operations to lead our exciting projects in Phoenix, AZ. This role offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of the refrigeration industry, encompassing a range of applications from supermarkets, multi-store chains, to industrial sectors.

We are looking for a Director, Operations to lead assigned P&L's and teams supporting our nationwide customers. Lead refrigeration/ mechanical experts including direct and indirect reports on planning, development, implementation, and progress tracking for a strategic department or programs/rollouts. Build the right strategy and team structure to consistently deliver the best Customer Experience for our Customers during and after the construction phase. Manage and grow a team to ensure that operations services meet and/or exceed expectations. Lead the team to support AMS leadership to achieve our Annual Operating plan. This critical role will be a key owner that keeps our organization providing the best service and technical support in our industry!

What the Role Involves:

As the Director, Operations, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading, develop, and manage assigned customer (s) or team in the operations.
  • Lead a team as assigned, including department managers, supervisors or admin staff.
  • Lead project and partner with Engineering, Sales, Project Management Team, construction team, non-mechanical team, and subcontractors on a program level.
  • Manage assigned profit centers/ customers in compliance with established profit levels.
  • Build and manage annual operating plans and forecasts for DFR segments as requested/ needed.
  • Meets or exceeds financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, identifying, and implementing efficiencies, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Create a detailed project scope of work (SOW) that identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
  • Develop a plan with different department and team managers that effectively allocates the resources on the program.
  • Review the SOW, Cost budget, and team (PM) schedule with the staff who are associated with the project or assigned operations team.
  • Finding cost-saving measures and margin expansion opportunities.
  • Prepare (and/or oversee, review, and approve) SOW and Project Quotes for Sales Team to present to customers as needed.
  • Partner with the sales team and work closely with customers on new opportunities.
  • Lead and enhance client relationships through initiative-taking and positive communication, and by recognizing and delivering on client key issues and expectations.
  • Further develop client relationships and partner with the team to recognize future business opportunities.
  • Provide administration and business support to the Managing Director, and other assigned staff, to ensure compliance with established quality standards and completeness of work performed.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Analyze the workload and restructure the team as needed to ensure proper support and growth of AMS business. Provide feedback and guidance including proper distribution of roles and responsibilities to the program team.
  • Demonstrate the application of the knowledge of commercial refrigeration installation through leadership and management practices.
  • Manage all communication amongst the team to foster an open environment of positive communication and teamwork to proactively solve issues and successfully execute the project scope.
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the operations team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
  • Determine the client objectives and measures the performance at its completion.
  • Ensure that training needs are reviewed and provided to employees for efficiency and growth.
  • Annual evaluations and performance feedback to complete accurately and timely.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the leadership team.
  • Be able to travel 20% to 30% of work time.
  • Partner with the HR team for adding resources as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced Degree in Construction, Mechanical, Project Management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of Project Management or Installation or Services experience in the Refrigeration/ HVAC industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of nationwide refrigeration project management or other relevant experience.
  • 5 years of directly managing a multi-level local and remote team.
  • 5 years of direct or indirect customer relationship experience.
