HIGHLAND PARK METHODIST CHURCH is Hiring a Sr Manager of Communications Near Dallas, TX

Senior Manager of Communications

This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.

The Senior Manager of Communications is responsible for managing the timely delivery of engaging collateral for internal ministry clients as well as helping to develop and implement a variety of communications and content strategies for HPUMC and its ministries. The Senior Manager of Communications will work closely with the Director of Creative, Communications, & Production, ministry leaders, and other team members to coordinate key content and communications functions for HPUMC. They must be well organized with a good eye for detail, articulate, a self-starter, able to work with a variety of people with varying work styles, and be able to prioritize workload against tight deadlines. Top potential candidates will have had experience in communications or an advertising agency, and experience with print, design, and video production is a plus. This position serves as a point of contact between the Creative, Communications, & Production team and other internal departments, programs, and ministries and must demonstrate superior customer service orientation, interpersonal communication, and written communication skills.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Campus: Mockingbird

Working Hours: This is a full-time position working at least 36 hours per week. 

Anticipated Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-5 pm, Friday 8 am-Noon

During certain times of the year, additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Understand clients’ main goals, find the problem/solution for each project, manage timelines, manage client expectations, and interpret their needs to work towards a successful outcome
  • Serve as the primary contact between the Creative, Communication, & Production department and other departments, programs, and ministries
  • Develop and implement an ongoing strategy for each program, department, or ministry that meets organizational objectives and aligns with the overarching content and brand strategies of HPUMC
  • Creatively and strategically solve multiple problems at once, under quick deadlines
  • Successfully facilitate groups that have differences in perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds that have shaped viewpoints and stifled progress
  • Maintain timelines and incoming requests for projects, including working with approved outside vendors
  • Demonstrate superior customer service orientation, interpersonal communication, and written communication skills
  • Help review all written materials, both digital and print, before being sent
  • Keep an awareness of the overall editorial calendar and content strategies for HPUMC, so that internal stakeholders are informed of organizational news, issues, and direction
  • Exhibit a willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions or priorities
  • Generate, recommend, and implement new or revised internal controls, methodologies, and procedures when improvements are identified and required
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Education and Desired Skills:

  • 5 years of project management experience with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, business, or related field
  • Ability to develop and implement a communications strategy for clients
  • Marketing, communication, or advertising agency experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of print, web, and design production
  • Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills
  • Presentation skills and salesmanship are a must
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, and the ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Strong attention to details
  • Ability to strategically think through projects and their relationship to the big picture
  • Ability to prioritize competing projects
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Capable of summarizing chunks of information for clarity and understanding

Preferred Software Experience:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • G Suite (Google, Gmail, Calendar, etc.)
  • Asana or other project management tool

Must be a committed Christian, with a church home, who is comfortable working in a United Methodist Church and willing to spend occasional Sundays onsite in order to understand HPUMC firsthand.
