SUMMARY: This position provides key management and administration to many compliance responsibilities and aspects of Harvest Sherwood relating to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This position interfaces with various departments to ensure completeness of reporting, processes, and investigations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provides oversight and assist in the assurance that Driver Qualification Files (DQF) are maintained in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMSCR) and company policy.
Leads the company’s DOT and Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program to maintain compliance to regulation and company policy.
Serves as the company specialist on matters relating to driver fitness for duty and the DOT Medical Examination (ME).
Files and manages claims with appropriate insurers; assembles and provides necessary documents for claim setup for liabilities or recovery (demands).
Works closely with leadership (Safety Manager(s) and Operations’ leaders) to ensure the completion of all vehicle accident and/or workers’ compensation investigation forms so that root-cause is determined in all accident cases and that consistent claim investigation and file management occurs; focused on accident reduction and/or intervention strategies.
Leads the company’s Workers’ Compensation (WC) processing of claims to include working with injured employee, management, medical facilities, and insurance company.
Manages the company’s restricted duty program pertaining to WC claims.
Assists in the tracking, creation, determination, and completion of required training, e.g. Workers’ Compensation Reporting, Qualifications and the Hiring Process, etc.
Leads the completion of the company’s OSHA 300 log and finalizes year-end summaries and reporting by location
Assists in accident investigations and supports all company safety initiatives.
Provides oversight and assists in the management of our service providers such that they have safety and security agreement in place and are properly insured in accordance with company policy.
Other administrative support duties as assigned or warranted by department leadership.

Associates degree required; Bachelors’ degree in related field preferred;
At least seven years of experience with DOT regulations and safety administration in a transportation/logistics, general industry, or warehousing environment
Professional experience and associated skills in a safety management function may substitute for any absence of education requirements
Requires excellent personal computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, specifically spread sheeting and database querying. TMS and/or WMS programs experience is highly desirable
Must have strong communication, reasoning and mathematical skills
Must have strong Microsoft Suite skills
Ability to work in extreme environments
