Job Purpose The National Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading corporate (multiple locations) efforts toward improving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) workplace performance by promoting a positive safety culture, identifying and mitigating EHS risk and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies and standards. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement best practice safety programs and ensure its standardization company-wide.Manage and administer environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives, company objectives and business partner requirements.Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.Manage worker's compensation claims supporting employee wellness and return to work.Assist in the administration of OSHA, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other relevant safety and environmental standards and reporting.Develop and promote a positive safety culture throughout the complete organization, market safety.Partner with site management to ensure applicable EHS related goals (accident rates, training participation, etc.) and regulatory requirements (assessments, plans, training, etc.) are satisfied.Perform data analysis on accident and/or injury information to determine focus areas for remediation and prevention, risk management and loss prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.Complete, or assist in the completion of, required reporting and record keeping, OSHA and EPA.Write, implement, and manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures in accordance to corporate standards.Serve as the safety committee leader/developer for all locations and ensure that safety meeting attendance and subject matters and topics are properly documented in accordance with company expectations.Develop, manage, and keep current all site emergency action plans.Assure that forklift (with licensing) or other specialized equipment training is performed and documented at each location. Partner with facilities, architects, and other groups to ensure site construction/renovation activities incorporate safety related considerations.Duties can expand at the discretion and warrant of need as deemed appropriate by management.Experience or strong familiarity with refrigeration systems to include anhydrous ammonia. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position will be responsible for supervision of safety and regulatory policies, plans, guidelines, and provisions involving direct or indirect control/accountabilities involving all Company employees. Qualifications and Experience Bachelors’ degree in related field preferred; Associates degree may be considered7 years of experience with OSHA regulations and safety administration in a transportation/logistics, general industry, or warehousing environmentOSHA 30 required; Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) & Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferredProfessional experience and associated skills in a safety management function may substitute for any absence of education requirementsRequires excellent personal computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, specifically spread sheeting and database querying. Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) programs experience is highly desirableMust have strong communication both written and oral, interpersonal and mathematical skillsMust have strong Microsoft Suite skillsAbility to work in extreme environments such as, varying refrigerated and freezer temperatures and seasonal climate conditions
