NSO is looking for a Benefits & Wellness Specialist for full time position in our Detroit, MI Central
Neighborhood Service Organization is a 503(c) Human Services providing support to the most vulnerable in our community.
NSO's compassionate and professional staff provides services that have impacted countless children, youth, adults, seniors, families, and communities since 1955. We deliver holistic care and wrap around/safety net services to address social determinants impacting health, education and economic stability.
NSO’s empowering programs and services provide assistance for: older adults with mental illness; children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities; homeless recovery services; housing development; community outreach for psychiatric emergencies; and volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, and organizations. Office.
Some duties include:
Administer employee benefits which include, but are not limited to, medical; dental; vision; disability; group term life/accidental death & dismemberment; short/long-term disability; 403 (b) defined contribution plan and defined benefit plan; cafeteria plan and flexible spending accounts.
Process and monitor compliance of FMLA applications.
Process and monitor compliance of COBRA notices and enrollments.
Process and monitor compliance of Workers Compensation cases and OSHA filings.
Process and monitor unemployment and worker's compensation claims.
Knowledgeable of Affordable Care Act and
Research benefits information updates and best practices.
Assist with all other issues relating to benefits as needed.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements and keeps updated on legislative changes.
Requirements:
Education: BA, BS in H.R. Management or related field. A minimum of 3 years human resources experience with a concentration on benefits administration.
Certification/License: PHR certification preferred.
Knowledge of Human Resources and Benefits functions; some knowledge of Payroll functions is preferred.
Proficient in Benefits and Pension administration (DBP and 403(b) plans).
Leave administration knowledge
Knowledge of various computer software applications, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and HRIS system
Above average communication skills (written and oral)
Strong clerical and mathematical skills
Average awareness of wellness to promote organizationally
Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and vendors
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Valid Michigan driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
