Harrison is Hiring a Payroll and Benefits Manager Near Chicago, IL

Harrison LLP is a nationally renowned law firm focused on providing sophisticated wealth planning legal advice, exceptional client service, and innovative solutions. We are looking to add an experienced billing specialist to our growing finance team.

As the Payroll and Benefits Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the firm, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies, and overseeing and coordinating benefits. Ideal candidates should possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a deep understanding of payroll systems and benefits.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end payroll processes including data entry, computations, and verifying accuracy of payroll transactions.
  • Review and process changes in employee tax withholding, direct deposit, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to resolve payroll discrepancies or issues.
  • Prepare reports for management on payroll expenses, tax liabilities, and other related metrics.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries regarding pay issues.
  • Understand and implement proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  • Assist the production and validation of journal entries.
  • Develop benefit programs for improved recruiting and employee engagement.
  • Provide educational support and assist employees with benefit questions and concerns.
  • Create and run reports to assist with reconciliation of benefits charges and funding of Health Savings Accounts.
  • Support the annual enrollment process, including vendor changes, plan design changes, communications, and testing of online enrollment system.
  • Perform year-end activities including annual reporting and filings.
  • Support the administration of retirement programs.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a law firm environment (5 years) as a payroll specialist or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Paycor preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
