District Manager
SUMMARY
Manages all aspects of stand-alone branch operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and supervisors.
This individual has full responsibility for all areas of a stand-alone business. Experience in chemical distribution, sales and marketing, management, personnel, basic warehousing and trucking, and motivation are highly desirable. Individual must to be able to work independently.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Job duties may vary based on business needs but may result in generating, handling, and/or inspection of hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage. This can include responding or managing hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the sites emergency action or contingency plan. These duties include preparing and managing hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports
  • Manages all aspects of stand-alone branch operation, including sales, product production, warehousing, transportation, purchasing, customer service and finance.
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control branch personnel.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures and profitability of branch to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and to assist salespeople in promoting sales.
  • Sets up strategies to achieve goals to promote branch growth.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and directs sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.
  • Develops sales oriented partnerships between vendors and customers.
  • Fosters customer account responsibilities and options.
  • Ensures safe working environments for all employees and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures branch complies with corporate standards of business practices.
  • Develops communication and cooperation between other branches for mutual growth.
  • Promotes TQM (Total Quality Management).
  • Ability to use and knowledge of personal computer and related software.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages 1-4 subordinate managers or supervisors who supervise a total of 5-35 employees in the Operations, Office, Warehouse, and Sales areas.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • five to ten years related experience and/or training
  • A valid drivers license- Required
  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
