Grind Burger Kitchen is Hiring a Head Chef Near Louisville, KY

First, we want to acknowledge the difficult circumstance we are all in. We are taking extra precautions to reduce/eliminate the risk of spreading Covid-19. We are busier than we expected to be given the circumstances and believe that as long as the state and local administration finds essential value in restaurants remaining open to provide curbside, delivery and limited indoor options to get food to people in quarantine or on the front lines, we intend to remain doing so.

Grind Burger Kitchen is in search of a new Head Chef! We are part of Uffda Hospitality, a growing company, and are looking for an individual that can come in, hit the ground running and grow along with us! Grind requires a Head Chef that will support and ensure the daily operation of Grind Burger Kitchen, while optimizing profits through controlling food and labor costs. This individual will provide a superior casual dining experience by being consistent and detail oriented while serving high quality food. This is a hands-on management job. Our mission is to prepare and serve the best burgers in Louisville and promote a culture of quality that extends far beyond the plate!

Responsibilities

  • Direct kitchen operations including; food preparation, cooking and cleanup
  • Inspect raw and cooked food to guarantee that the highest quality products are prepared and served to customers
  • Assign tasks, supervise all kitchen staff in the preparation and presentation of food
  • Maintain control of kitchen to ensure all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain kitchen equipment; schedule repairs and additional maintenance as needed
  • Resolve issues so that customers continue to receive their orders in a timely manner
  • Ticket times should be between 15-20, and never over 45 minutes * Make sure that all kitchen staff adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen
  • Maintain Kitchen Handlers and ServSafe Licenses for you and all shift lead staff * Ensure company policy and brand standards
  • Optimize profits by controlling labor costs and food costs, through ordering/inventory, this includes handling ordering and delivery
  • Percentage of food and labor kept at or below 30%
  • Direct monthly inventory
  • Maintain vendor relationships * Collaborate with the General Manager, Director of Operations and Owners to align kitchen operations with the overarching goals of the establishment
  • Independently propose as well as collaborate with executive chef on the creation of menu items and specials that fall in line with the Grind brand standard
  • Display a passion for the business through outstanding leadership
  • Communicate effectively with all staff, managers and owners
  • Create fun in a fast-paced and stressful environment
  • Hiring, training, scheduling and developing new hourly team members
  • Review hourly employees on a quarterly basis * Use and maintain information on Breadcrumb, Dolce Scheduling and Simple Order
  • Any additional responsibilities needed to ensure the success of the kitchen and business.

Job Qualifications

  • Significant head chef experience
  • Strong background in menu development
  • Business and budgeting experience
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with vendors
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Google Docs and Email Communication
  • Ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment
  • Interest in great food!
  • Post-secondary education in culinary field a plus

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs throughout any assigned shift unassisted.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb and balance on a step stool/ladder.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Ability to sustain repetitive arm and hand motion.

Benefits
