We're seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Business Development Representative, where you'll play a pivotal role in revitalizing and expanding our client base across Massachusetts. By rekindling connections with stagnant accounts, you'll be essential in propelling growth and nurturing enduring partnerships. As a Business Development Representative, your role is fundamentally aimed at propelling sustainable growth and refining operational efficiency within our organization. Here's how your contributions align with this overarching purpose:
General Description
The following duties are essential to this position. Management may assign additional duties as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling within current accounts.
  • Conduct market research to identify and pursue potential new clients, expanding the client base.
  • Utilize CRM software to track interactions, maintain records, and report progress.
  • Provide feedback to improve sales and marketing strategies.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for client engagement and revenue growth.
  • Serve as the primary support for order processing and management for sales representatives and customers.
  • Oversee the entire order lifecycle, including entry, verification, confirmation, changes, tracking, claims, and returns.
  • Execute daily transactions using Prelude, Griffin’s order management system, and the B2B website.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of customer orders, managing shipping, pricing, substitutions, and returns.
  • Efficiently handle the retrieval and organization of sales orders.
  • Maintain timely communication via email and phone with sales reps, customers, and vendors.
  • Generate sales reports upon request and communicate relevant deadlines and vendor information to customers.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with management, customer care team, sales force, customers, and vendors.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage time to handle inbound and outbound calls, resolve customer issues, and complete tasks.
  • Provide recommendations for problem-solving and suggest system enhancements to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain and update the Sales Representative Hot Book throughout each phase of the process.
  • Ensure consistent attendance and adherence to work schedules, transitioning from in-office to over-the-road roles as required.
  • Prospect and engage with existing clients through various channels such as phone calls, emails, and virtual meetings.
  • Develop strategies to reinvigorate inactive accounts and foster increased client engagement.
  • Forge strong client relationships by understanding their business objectives and delivering tailored solutions.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and adherence to work schedules.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Support system testing and training initiatives, utilizing Griffin's Operating System for sales and customer analysis.
  • Present and explain sales programs to customers to drive sales and minimize travel costs.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Communications, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
  • Previous experience in order processing, customer service, or sales support roles is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage customer relationships and resolve issues is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM software for tracking interactions and generating reports is beneficial.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating accountability and reliability.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with order management software.
Work Setting: Primarily works in a professional office environment, but remote work option available, facilitating collaboration through virtual platforms.
Equipment Usage: Will extensively use computers and related software applications for project management, communication, and data analysis. Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools is essential.
Travel Requirements: Minimal or no travel needed, with occasional virtual meetings or training sessions.
