Green Drop Garage is actively seeking an Accountant to provide senior level administrative support to the corporate office. You will become a trusted part of the Green Drop Garage team, managing details and helping our unique company grow and thrive.

As a pivotal member of our executive core, the Accountant plays a vital role in steering the business towards financial success, operational efficiency, and continued growth. Working closely with the Owner, Directors, and Operations Manager, the Staff Accountant is instrumental in upholding the company's policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

The Accountant is responsible for providing a wide range of operations support to the company, including management of accounting, payroll reporting, and general finance functions. Must be self-managed and manage duties of clerical staff and contractors. Must be numbers oriented and be creative with project work. Must be resourceful, and self-sufficient as well as self-motivated.

Our office is located in the Central Eastside of Portland and hours are generally 8am-5pm Monday Through Friday, though this role offers some flexibility,

The Position

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining financial processes as outlined by the corporate office.
  • Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Contributing to the preparation and review of annual budgets and performance projections
  • Preparing and analyzing financial reports such as income statements and balance sheets
  • Handling month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts
  • Reconciling the company’s bank and credit card statements
  • Responsible for managing cash flow
  • Assisting with preparing, filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
  • Payroll processing
  • Recording and categorizing expenses
  • Conducting financial analysis to identify trends and variances and offer advice on how to reduce cost, improve revenue, and boost profit
  • Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of bills to ensure proper coding
  • Performing fixed asset accounting
  • Collaborating with and supporting internal teams to address accounting inquiries
  • Ensure the confidentiality and secure storage of sensitive financial information.
  • Managing financial and accounting software used by the company, conducting database backups when necessary
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Assisting with overall administrative activities for the office
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Accounting; Bachelors preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
  • Successful background in office administration
  • Successful background in accounting
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative team setting with strong personal accountability
  • Proven ability to support transparent accounting operations
  • In depth understanding of both cash and accrual accounting systems
  • Experience in a high-growth or start-up environment preferred
  • Excellent at coordinating, implementing, and following through on plans
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly detailed, analytical, accurate, and independently motivated
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software like Zoho and QuickBooks
  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Strong computer and internet skills including all MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), G Workspace, and Apple productivity suite of products required
  • Experience with payroll software a plus; familiarity with administration of 401k plans, medical/dental insurance, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, and related state and federal regulations a plus
  • Must have strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solving
  • Proven ability to manage financial projects effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, exercise sound judgment and confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus
