Greater Washington Urban League is Hiring an Administrative Assistant Near Washington, DC

General Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant for the Director of Emergency Services (DES). In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting the DES in their daily operations and ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Schedule appointments and meetings for the Director of Emergency Services (DES), including staff meetings, outreach, and special events
  • Correspond on behalf of the DES when necessary
  • Retrieve data information for all emergency services programs for reporting purposes
  • Complete weekly/monthly reports for the Department of Human Services
  • Assist new hires with onboarding and getting acclimated with management and the team
  • Schedule annual employee evaluations and maintain employee profiles
  • Create impact analysis for annual reporting for the National Urban League and Greater Washington Urban League
  • Schedule and coordinate all activities for the Emergency Services team
  • Perform all clerical duties for the Director of Emergency Services efficiently
  • Create and manage spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, correspondence, databases, and other documents

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of senior administrative experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background investigation.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 55 wpm.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and .Net systems.
  • Must be proficient with airline bookings and out-of-town training and special events.
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills must be second nature.
  • Must be observant, and an effective communicator both verbally and written, when a proactive approach is critical.

Working Conditions

The employee will be working in a normal office environment.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit, stand, walk, and reach. May need to lift files or packages periodically.
