POSITION TITLE: Human Resource Generalist
Location: Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County 300 E Lea Blvd, Wilmington De, 19802
Salary: $56,000
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for providing day-to-day human resources guidance and support in the following areas: employee relations and engagement; performance management; leave administration; regulatory compliance; and onboarding. This role will ensure consistent application of policies and procedures and partners closely with supervisors and their respective teams to contribute to the overall success of the organization. The Human Resource Generalist is a member of the Quality Team. This position requires travel 20% of the time to locations in Delaware and Delaware County.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Handles employment-related inquiries and partners with the HR Director and HR Manager on matters that require escalation.
  • Attends and participates in team member performance management meetings and investigations.
  • Partners with department leaders in Goodwill’s various business lines to provide guidance on the interpretation of the Team Member Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reviews and analyzes HRIS reports on a weekly basis to ensure the accuracy of employee data in the HRIS system.
  • Visits Goodwill locations, meets with team members and gathers data to promote employee culture and engagement.
  • Handles Unemployment Insurance benefit claims, including attending hearings and completing required Department of Labor documentation.
  • Handles all leave and ADA accommodation administration. Records employee status and position changes and maintains current HR files and databases while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Partners with the Compensation & Benefits Manager on wellness events.
  • Handles on-boarding process for salaried team members and conducts audits on on-boarding processes.
  • Extracts and compiles requested data for required internal, state, and federal statistical reports.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with annual mandatory trainings.
  • Assists in the development of Standard Operating Procedures by working with department leaders and other key staff members.
  • Completes internal forms and documents that require input from the HR Department.
  • Maintain strict confidentially of all sensitive information pertaining to but not limited to employment development and/or employment
information, along with maintaining a professional work environment.
  • Make recommendations to improve existing policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures completion of drug testing processes for team members in safety sensitive positions. Reviews results and notifies parties involved.
  • Regularly updates Director of Human Resources on progress, issues, and any areas of challenge, opportunity or concern.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Reviews organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Participates in Goodwill sponsored events and attends community functions, as needed.
  • Performs all other duties required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and at least four years of experience in a Human Resources field. Accredited HR certification preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Working knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software programs.
  • Working knowledge of Paycom or similar HR information system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and conflict resolution skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and prioritization skills, and ability to handle concurrent tasks in a busy work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
