Who is Good Samaritan?

Good Samaritan Community Services is a 501(c) 3 organization that serves communities that are being underserved by traditional community support. We provide a continuum of integrated services to more than 3,500 individuals from the age of 6 weeks to 93. We also serve more than 1,200 families via offices and locations in San Antonio, Brownsville, and other parts of South and West Texas.

Good Samaritan
began as mission of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1939 and became an
institution of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas in 1951 under the leadership
of Bishop Everett Jones. Since the inception of our ministry, we have focused on serving the health and
education, and social and emotional equity needs of our neighbors.

"actively serve as a catalyst for change, supporting youth, individuals,
and families by providing excellent community services to overcome economic
poverty,” is our core guiding value. We do this through a continuum of services
designed to stabilize families, establish nurturing relationships, and foster self-sufficiency in
those we serve through the programs and support we provide
via our Family Services and Youth and Teen Departments.

Position Summary

The Finance
Specialist is responsible for Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Payroll processing through a third-party provider
coordinating with Human Resources, and providing financial, administrative, and
clerical support to the Finance Department.

Education and
Experience

·
Bachelor’s degree from
accredited college or university with major coursework in Business, Accounting, or Human Resources related field preferred or at least three years of work-related experience can be substituted
for education.

·
Experience with payroll process and/or timekeeping required.

·
Knowledge of Sage accounting and business software products or similar product applications desired, experience with excel, and email required.

·
Knowledge of contract funding and grants as well as HRIS database (Paycom) preferred.

Essential Duties & Functions

· Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of Good Samaritan Community Services.

· Process bi-weekly payroll in an accurate and timely manner with Human Resources department.

· Prepare and send out 1099 forms at the end of year.

· Enters credit card charges and ensure pending receipts and/or request forms are submitted to Finance and saved in Intacct.

· Order supplies and other items for the entire agency after ensuring all required paperwork has been obtained and properly signed.

· Receives orders and distributes items to applicable department/staff.

· Post monthly finance/service charges.

· Match purchase orders, packing slips and shipping/receiving documents to invoices and enter fully supported and approved invoices into the accounting system.

· Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.

· Maintains spreadsheet tracking utility cost and consumption.

· Monitor discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing purchase order amendments.

· Ensure multi-department and multiple fund codes are accurate on each general ledger posting.

· Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports.

· Maintain all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and accounts payable files.

· Maintain historical records and create and maintain neat, confidential filing system.

· Research pricing between multiple vendors to ensure savings for the organization.

· Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages volunteers and interns when assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.

Physical Demands

Movement of documents and materials is required. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, one must be able to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk, hear, type, have close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus with good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift between 25-35 pounds. These physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. This is dependent upon the nature of the special action, project or event that may arise, and the timeframe for completion.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required.

Benefits and Compensation

The salary range is $38,000.00 - $43,000.00 annually. A competitive compensation package will be offered for this position based upon the successful candidate’s education, skills, and experience and includes a generous paid time off policy, matching retirement plan and a full complement of insurance benefits.
