Job Summary:The Prep Cook performs basic cooking duties, monitors stock levels, and takes on culinary tasks as they arise. The right person for this position will be hard-working and responsible for setting up workstations in the kitchen and preparing ingredients for the cooking process.Duties/Responsibilities:-
Setting up and sanitizing work stations. -
Follows the Daily Prep List to start each shift. -
Preparing cooking ingredients to exactly as outlined for each dish. -
Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads. -
Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible. -
Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen. -
Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen. -
Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement. -
Promptly reports equipment, food quality problems and product shortages to Kitchen Manager. -
Performs repetitive meal prep tasks exactly as outlined by the recipe cards each and every time. -
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.
Required Skills/Abilities:-
Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives. -
Strong team working and communication skills. -
Performs repetitive tasks without deviation. -
Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment. -
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays. -
Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:-
High school diploma or equivalent. -
A minimum of I year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking of similar style restaurant. -
At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity. -
Culinary school training would be advantageous. -
Experience as a prep cook may be advantageous.
Physical Requirements: -
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds. -
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
