Description of Company:
Flag Media Analytics (Flag) is a next generation news monitoring and stakeholder intelligence company. The company is designed to facilitate and shorten the decision cycle for media engagement and improves planning, feedback, and accountability for communications functions. We combine our award-winning AI technology with analysts to provide an integrated solution covering media, reputation, ESG, risk and board intelligence to support decision-making related to stakeholder management. Flag is located in Washington, D.C, and this role will be in-office. Some travel for business development opportunities and collaboration will be required.
Summary of Position:
The managing director will be responsible for overseeing the management of Flag, including strategy setting, business development, internal company management, and new offerings. The ideal candidate has 10 years of experience in media monitoring, journalism, or public affairs and has experience managing people.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction: Work directly with leadership to develop strategy, goals, implementation plans, and KPIs designed to maximize client satisfaction and company efficiency. Lead on measurement of progress against goals, keep leadership updated, and make recommendations, as appropriate.
Business Development: Coordinate with leadership on business development outreach, and lead on proposal writing, pitching, and follow-up.
Internal Management: Oversee the entire internal management structure of the company, including engaging directly with staff, ensuring processes are being followed and implemented correctly, adjusting processes as needed, and building a strong, cohesive, positive team culture.
Cross-Organization Communication: Serving as Flag's primary internal communicator across the broader organization, identifying when and how to communicate relevant updates.
Client Services: Coordinate with project managers to ensure client satisfaction; identify and engage high-touch clients.
Product Development: Develop new ideas of product offerings to present to leadership and lead on implementation, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in economics, political science/government, business, journalism, public policy, or related field required
10 years of professional experience in communications or policy roles in a related field: political campaign, the Hill, journalism, administration, consultancy, nonprofit or corporate enterprise
Prior management experience and demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate talented teams, empowering different types of personalities with a team-first mentality
Familiarly with politics and the media cycle
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple, competing priorities
Preferred:
Experience working in a client service environment
Experience in data analysis
Significant experience working on multiple policy issues in a variety of industries
