First Class Moving Systems is Hiring an Accounting Manager Near Tampa, FL

First Class Moving Systems is Seeking an Accounting Manager.

Compensation and Advancement Opportunity

This is a mid-level management role with significant earnings opportunity. Compensation is base salary plus profit sharing directly tied to the performance of the company and will vary based on the qualifications of the candidate. Sustained success in this key leadership role may lead to advancement into a Controller or other corporate level leadership positions.

Role Summary

The Accounting Manager is a hands on accounting position performing supervisory, accounting, and clerical work involved in all aspects of the company’s accounting functions including revenue sales reporting, AP/AR, general ledger, cash management, fixed assets, payroll administration and financial reporting. This role reports directly to the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains appropriate accounting controls and policies to ensure adherence to accounting guidelines (GAAP).
• Manage and administer AP and AR functions.
• Month-end closing activities including reconciling balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, inventory, clearing accounts and other relevant general ledger accounts.
• Prepare/record journal entries including depreciation and intercompany adjustments.
• Prepare and publish consolidated financial statements.
• Publish and report companies KPI’s and multiple monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Create management reporting including ad-hoc, targeted requests by management.
• Maintain daily cash flows, including daily cash receipt processing, collections on accounts receivables and produce AR reports.
• Weekly payroll coding to proper categories and work types.
• Assist Controller in providing documents and reporting to external CPA’s and auditors for annual taxes and year-end financial reviews.
• Issue vendor and contractor payments and produce annual 1099's.
• Filing of monthly sales tax and quarterly use tax.
• Maintain and tracking of inter-company loan schedules and update debt schedules.
• Filing of business licenses and annual reports.
• Full circle fixed asset accounting (capitalization, amortization, tracking, and retirements).
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
• Manage and supervise a team of accounting professionals.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business with an emphasis in accounting or 4 years of equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• 5-7 years of accounting experience preferred, and 2 years of supervisory experience required.
• Must be proficient in the use of standard software packages, including Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Access and become proficient in industry software such as Mover’s Suite and accounting software, Great Plains.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive.
• Professional License/Certification - CPA/CMA, preferred but not required.
• Must be able to think strategically to identify problems and develop creative solutions to drive continuous improvement in all accounting functions.
• Must be effective producing simple, practical financial data to enable continuous operational and financial improvement across all company departments.
• Must have a strong commitment to continued professional growth and development.
• Strong numerical proficiency with excellent organizational and critical thinking skills required.
• Experience with data analytics applications strongly preferred (PowerBI, Tableau etc.).
• Strict attention to detail and excellent writing, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills required.
• Must have proven ability to effectively manage multiple, changing priorities in a demanding environment with limited supervision. Must be able to provide direction and find progress in ambiguous situations.
• Must convey a professional, positive image and attitude to successfully develop and strengthen relationships with customers, colleagues, contractors, vendor partners and employee labor.

Language Skills:

You must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret emails, memos, letters, common billing documents, spread sheets, inventory/cube sheets, weight tickets, bills of lading, change orders, estimates/orders for service, invoices, financial reports, and basic legal documents. You must also have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, third party relocation companies, third party vendors, SIRVA, North American Dispatch, Customer Service, Claims or Accounting Departments, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Moreover, you must possess the aptitude to communicate effective emails, letters, memos, text messages, invoices, financial reports, and estimates. Finally, you should be able to effectively present information to management.

Mathematical Skills:

This occupation will require you to have advanced proficiency in processing mathematical concepts such as adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. You will also apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

You must possess the ability to define problems, collect data, conduct fact-finding, determine facts, apply rules, and draw valid conclusions. The qualified candidate will also have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to travel and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The duties of this position require the employee to drive an automobile on occasion. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable at certain minimum coverage from time to time prescribed by First Class. Proof of a valid license and insurability must be provided whenever requested by First Class.
