Job Description

The Safety Manager at Fire Safety and Protection LLC is an experienced professional who reports to the Chief Operating Officer and ensures compliance with health and safety laws in the workplace. Responsibilities for this key role include developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risks, and promoting an enterprise-wide culture of safety.

Job Responsibilities

Developing and Executing Health and Safety Plans.

• Create and implement health and safety strategies in accordance with legal guidelines.
• Establish policies to foster a culture of health and safety within the organization.
• Develop safety metrics and reporting.
• Deliver presentations to the Executive Leadership Team on Health and Safety reporting.

Risk Assessment and Compliance

• Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety laws.
• Investigate accidents and incidents to identify areas for improvement.
• Perform field inspections and safety audits.

Training and Communication

• Conduct training sessions for employees on safety protocols.
• Communicate guidelines and best practices to a multidisciplinary workforce.
• Report on health and safety issues and recommend improvements.

Creating a Safe Workplace

• Minimize hazards and occupational risks to protect employees.
• Promote occupational health and safety.
• Ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations.

Qualifications

• 5 years in a Safety role in an industry such as the following: fire and life safety, construction, HVAC or other technical solutions industry that employes skilled labor.
• 2 years in a Safety role serving a minimum of 10 locations that provide technical solutions to commercial facilities and many B2B clients in each territory.

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, building technology and construction, or other related degree, or equivalent work experience in the fire and life safety industry as a Safety Manager.
• Master’s degree in occupational health and safety preferred, but not required.
• In-depth understanding of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) or the Canadian equivalent OHSA, and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standards.
• Fire and life safety certifications such as NICET OR CFAA preferred.
• Familiarity with relevant Canadian and US federal, state, county and provincial, and local safety regulations preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate safety guidelines and policies.
• Ability to travel up to 50% at times.
• Experience with establishing safety metrics and creating safety reports.
• Experience delivering presentations.
