Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is Hiring an Assistant Director Near Washington, DC

Position: Assistant Director, Office of Professional Responsibility

Division: Office of the Deputy Director

Location: Washington, DC

Working Hours: 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. (Flexible)

Salary: $141,022 to $204,278

Promotional Potential: none

Limited Cost Transfer may be offered with non-continuous service transfers.

Major Duties

The AD, OPR promotes and enforces disciplinary policies and practices through timely application of the FBI Offense Codes and Penalty Guidelines, and fosters integrity and ethical behavior within the organization. The AD, OPR enhances consistency and equality by applying the FBI’s high standards of conduct evenhandedly, regardless of race, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other protected status. The AD, OPR reviews the FBI’s Offense Codes and Penalty Guidelines on a periodic basis, amending them when necessary, in consultation with relevant stakeholders. The AD, OPR conducts extensive employee training regarding the FBI’s high standards of conduct and OPR’s policies and procedures, including training interns, and new employees. The AD, OPR is also responsible for establishing or revising significant division policies that contribute to the continual development of the FBI’s essential programmatic goals. In addition, the AD, OPR is responsible for responding to and coordinating with congressional entities and the Department of Justice (DOJ), including the Office of the Inspector General and Office of Professional Responsibility.

Qualifications & Evaluations

Candidates for this position should possess legal experience in the federal government or in a similar size agency as the FBI with relevant experience. Relevant experience can include, for example, but is not limited to, experience in matters such as fact-finding in employee adjudications, assessing credibility of persons, analysis of internal investigative files, and leading with decisive and sound decision-making.

Candidates should also possess experience in coordinating with or directing human resources management in the federal government, including aspects of employee relations dealing with misconduct and disciplinary matters, and an understanding of the interface between federal personnel actions with the Merit Systems Protection Board and Veterans rights. Candidate must have extensive experience coordinating with oversight entities, such as an Inspector General’s Office or congressional committees.

The candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills, integrity, and discretion.

The successful candidate will possess a record of accomplishments which demonstrate exceptional leadership/management, interpersonal, problem solving, collaboration, and organizational and planning skills. Given the diverse nature of the responsibilities of this position, a demonstrated record of team building and the ability to effectively coordinate a variety of competing tasks in a dynamic environment in a timely manner are also required.

Candidates must have a law degree, be a graduate of an accredited law school, have at least 10 years of legal experience, and be an active member of a State Bar in good standing.
