Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The mission of Information Technology Services is to explore, implement, and support the uses of technology to achieve the University’s academic and administrative objectives as stated in the University strategic plan.

Primary Purpose of the Position: The purpose of the IT Project Manager is to oversee multiple technical projects. The candidate is expected to maintain strong relationships with the customer base to successfully meet university staff and student expectations and provide total customer support as a single point of contact for all issues relating to IT projects. Familiarity with best practices in project management is required.

Project Management (70%)

  • Facilitate the definition of project charter, scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Create project plans and project schedules.
  • Monitors, plans, and controls/mitigate project changes and risks.
  • Track and manage project tickets/tasks to ensure timely and agreed implementations.
  • Assists with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Compile plans and work assignments, facilitate and monitor work efforts, identify resource trends and needs, and escalate functional, quality, or timeline issues appropriately.
  • Conduct lessons learned to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and complete appropriate project close-out artifacts.
  • Provides and maintains project management artifacts for all phases of projects.
  • Estimates and tracks resource hours and completion dates for projects, milestones, and individual tasks.
  • Provides leadership and project management expertise in both hardware and software.
  • Manages multiple projects of varying scope simultaneously.
  • Manages resources from multiple areas, including matrixed staff.
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of projects.

Engagement (20%):

  • Acts as liaison with project sponsors to ensure their needs are met and effectively manages and communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders (sponsor, consumer, technical staff, vendors, and ITS staff).
  • Manages resources assigned to projects regarding project efforts, providing a single point of contact for project assignments.
  • Work closely with the Business Relations Manager (BRM) to understand negotiated, documented, and agreed-upon requested deliverables.
  • Holds regular meetings with staff and other team members to foster team building, address issues and concerns, share information, and review progress.

Change Management (10%):

  • Acts as a change agent for ensuring that ITS delivers excellent customer service.
  • Concisely and effectively communicates progress, status, and issues to the business and ITS management.
  • Manage project deliverables from solution transition to release and implementation.
  • Facilitate and positively motivate project teams to solidify a sense of accountability for on-time, within-budget project delivery.
  • Apply a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support the adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Support the design, development, delivery, and management of communications.
  • Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness, and identify key stakeholders.
  • Provide input, document requirements, and support the design and delivery of training programs.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $97,000.00 per year
