Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for performing the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that invoices are properly approved, vendors are paid timely and data entry is correctly coded.

Job Duties:

• Receive and verify invoice approvals and coding as well as requisitions for goods and services
• Prepare batches of invoices for data entry
• Process backup reports after data entry
• Assist with external financial audit requests as necessary
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES:

• Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
• Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
• Requires excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication and organizational skills
• Must be detail oriented with the ability to plan work effectively, to meet the deadlines assigned, and to make sound decisions
• Ability to multi-task and shift priorities
• Ability to resolve challenges and suggest process improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2-5 years overall accounting experience

• High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
