Position is desired to be based in Indianapolis. Estimated 10% travel in North America.

Job Description

Title: Strategic Manager Commodities

Summary:

The Envita Strategic Manager of Commodities is responsible for ensuring Envita maintains a strong position both internally, and for our customers, in the scrap metals and other recycling commodities markets. This role shall work closely within the Supplier Partnerships team as a component of Envita's overall Supplier Excellence program. As a Functional Expert, this role will work closely with both Supplier partners as well as internal Operations Teams to achieve cross functional success.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Strategically develops and proposes scrap metal and other commodity programs to support operations teams and customer management
  • Works closely within Supplier Partnership Team as well as within Operations groups to implement corporate directives and initiatives
  • Develops a strategic approach to management of new commodity waste streams, logistics and evaluation of Supplier Partnerships to ensure industry competitiveness.
  • Builds and maintains a strategic network of supplier partners with commodity buying/trading capabilities
  • Supports Program Managers by identifying, formalizing or developing best practices and efficiencies with the purpose of improving cash flow and margins.
  • Act as liaison for Supplier Partners and Program Managers in dealing with scrap metal and other commodity related activities at existing customer facilities.
  • Reviews, maintains and shares price data and forecasts for all primary commodities markets via 3rd party portals.
  • Utilizes internal CRM and customer data to target improvements in commodity pricing across the company.
  • Creates and maintains campaigns within CRM to track and report on improvement progress.
  • Consults with Business Development team advising on new business opportunities involving commodity-related line-item bid scenarios and preferred suppliers
  • Acts as an agent of business and is involved with developing and maintaining relationships with keysuppliers. Interfaces with internal and external customers, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and regulation changes
  • Ensures compliances with Envita SOP's and initiatives
  • Negotiates terms and pricing with third party suppliers/contractors.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals and presentations.
  • Attends and participates in key market functions and trade shows to identify new opportunities, customer offerings and supplier relationships.
  • Visit customers and suppliers as needed to scope opportunities and market offerings.. Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time and be willing to travel internationally.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent required. Four-year college degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years' data analytics experience.
  • Providing strategic market analysis and leading cross functional teams to execute commodity strategies. .
  • Experience and knowledge of the scrap metal business or commodity related markets desired

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and negotiate pricing.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Minimum three (3) years' of analysis, forecasting, transforming data into actionable profit and loss impactful results
  • Project Management experience leading remote teams to collaborate, analyze root causes and brainstorm possible solutions based on resource constraints desired.
  • Proven track record of mediating business risk to customers, operations, profitable, suppliers and ensure stable supply of materials and services based on ROI.
  • Leading savings ideation sharing to highlight opportunities within each portfolio
  • Creating funnel entries in Salesforce with commodity details by territory for operational execution
  • Effective time management skills to balance and deliver on multiple deliverables in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to interface with internal and external customers, contractors and subcontractors with limited direction
  • Proven ability to solve problems and build trusted relationships with key suppliers.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of various federal, state and local industry-related regulations.
  • Strong business writing and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Travel required and must be willing to travel internationally as needed
