A DAY IN THE LIFEEnthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
The Admin Assistant provides administrative support to the entire lab. This position coordinates and performs check-in procedures for all incoming and outgoing samples. They’ll be responsible for answering phones and responding to customer emails related to sample condition and logistics.
NOTE: This is a part-time (TEMP) Administrative Assistant based in our Mt Pleasant, MI labAs a key member of the Mt Pleasant lab, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
  • Open sample packages received from customers; sign submitted Chain of Custody (COC) indicating receipt.
  • Inspect samples for damage or unusual condition, contact customers regarding these samples, as necessary.
  • Record sample and project information on COC or other communication in data management system.
  • Distribute samples to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Create USPS/UPS/Fedex/International Shipments daily.
  • Prepare return shipping labels as needed.
  • Track and record non-returned equipment.
  • Track and follow up regarding “on hold” samples.
  • Answer all incoming calls, direct to appropriate personnel, as necessary.
  • Communicate with customers regarding samples and equipment via phone and email.
  • Assist with manufacturing of sorbent tubes and pumps (sample collection media)
  • Assist with shipping, equipment maintenance and media preparation.
  • Maintain relevant office records.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Your Expertise & SkillsTo perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, associate's preferred
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. copier, scanner, fax machine, switchboard)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
  • Must be detail oriented, resourceful, creative, and flexible.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs while responding quickly and positively.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, copier, scanner).
  • Minimum of 2 years administrative and/or office related experience preferred.
  • Show willingness to work in a changing team setting.
