El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center is Hiring a Learning and Development Specialist Near San Bernardino, CA

Job Description:

In this role, you will be working closely with the Training Center Director to develop and facilitate key activities in selecting, implementing, and modifying curriculum for El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center Training Center. You will have heavy involvement with our Community Health Worker/Promotor Model (CHW/P) and related training. We are seeking an individual skilled in the modification of existing curriculum and collaboration with key staff and organizations. Research and identifying trends in the CHW/P profession, communicating key information to diverse audiences in well documented and written or oral form is a must.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 years of related/equivalent experience in facilitation and coordination with some college; 30-60 units or 2 years of equivalent/related experience in a similar role; HS Diploma req.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, Car insurance, and Car registration.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English; speak and write).
  • Pass FBI background check (Custodian of Records for DOJ).

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of adult learning, peer learning, the role of culture in education, and a wide range of educational and literacy backgrounds.
  • Training and/or education in curriculum design, development, and implementation. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other professionals in cross-divisional teams understanding of Community Health Workers, Community Health Worker Programs, and Community Health Worker systems.
  • Ability to train, manage other trainers, and coordinate training activities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle interruptions, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to perform tasks related to physical activity to include sitting, standing, for long periods of time, caring, bending, moving, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and leads training and workshops on assigned topics and training.
  • Provides training to internal staff on curriculum, best practices and tools used in training both virtual and in-person to ensure training can be seamlessly implemented for both internal and external participants.
  • Oversees the mentoring of other trainers and facilitators, including assessing trainer strengths, and creating plans to build on strengths and/or improve training skills.
  • Ensures communication about and around training is provided to key and affected staff in a timely and regular manner.
  • Serves as back up trainer if no other appropriate staff available or emergencies arise.
  • Develops relationships with local and national CHW agencies to facilitate information sharing and service provision.
  • Represents organization in meetings with community partners.
  • Attends conferences as directed and/or required.
  • Works collaboratively with Director and staff on implementation of curriculum, ensures curriculum is relevant and provides appropriate modification if needed.
  • Ensures the curriculum and tools are customized and high-quality materials for participants and cohorts served in collaboration with programming staff.
  • Work collaboratively with evaluation and program staff to ensure evaluation tools correctly reflect curriculum, training, and organizational values.
  • Orient and train team members on the curriculum and how it is implemented.
  • Provide necessary resources including, but not limited to, materials for curriculum guides (facilitator notes), training materials, and resource guides.
  • Works collaboratively with the evaluation team to ensure data is collected appropriately, procedures for collection are clear and followed, and forms are designed as needed and appropriate.
  • Distributes and discusses results to and with key parties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
