Division Overview
The Human Resources Division, through its embodiment of the University's strategic and operational goals, supports staff, faculty, and students by providing innovative, transformational, and inclusive services and programs.
Department Summary
The Staff Development Center (SDC) officially opened its doors in 2017 and is centrally located on the first floor of the John M. Pfau Library addition. The SDC focuses on increasing training opportunities for staff employees in the areas of job-specific, professional, and personal learning and development. A unique service the SDC offers its staff employees is 1:1 appointment for career discussions, including how to be a more competitive candidate through resume reviews, cover letter critiques, and mock interviews. The SDC at CSUSB is the first of its kind within the California State University system and serves as a model for other CSUs systemwide investing in a center dedicated to staff success. We are excited to be recognized for award-winning programming and curriculum, not only at CSUSB but also CSU systemwide.
Job Summary
The Staff Development Center (SDC) at CSUSB supports and directly contributes to the University's Strategic Plan of Staff Success. The SDC team is small, so every individual team member is critical and matters!
We currently have an opening for a Learning & Development Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator II), reporting directly to the Director of the SDC. As the Learning & Development Coordinator, you will be skilled in organizing learning opportunities to help employees develop professional skills, upskill technical proficiency and model service excellence.
As the Learning & Development Coordinator, you will have Domain Admin level access to our learning management systems to assign training, print training transcripts and trouble shoot issues. You will have an opportunity to exercise your creativity by developing promotional materials, newsletters, promotional videos, and reporting metrics from assessments, utilization, and programming. You will work closely with the Learning & Development Specialist, SDC Director, and subject matter experts in coordinating learning and development opportunities held virtually, in-person at both our San Bernardino and Palm Desert locations, as well as hybrid session.

Work Schedule
Academic Year: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (one-hour unpaid meal break), weekends and evenings may be required. Summer Schedule: Monday through Thursday from 7:00am - 5:30pm (half hour unpaid meal break).
Key Qualifications
  • Coordination of clerical and administrative support functions and/or performance of secretarial and administrative work for the Staff Development Center (SDC)
  • Assist with the evaluation of programs and provide recommendations related to operational and procedural matters of the Staff Development Center
  • Ability to perform work independently under general direction related to HR and Staff Development Center goals
  • Participate in large scale, complex SDC projects with broad, visible impact that involve coordination with other departments to plan and execute. Support SDC Project needs when identified and assigned, assist with outlining detailed plans through initiated, coordinated, and delegated work. Project is coordinated through initiation, execution, coordination, implementation, and evaluation
  • Ability to work with support staff and take full accountability for workflow and completion of work for the assigned support staff
  • Provide Lead work direction, training, and guidance to others
  • Participate in work involving staffing decisions and provide input to performance evaluations
  • Ability to handle multiple work unit projects and priorities
  • Knowledgeable to make independent decisions on day-to-day operations
  • Knowledgeable of specialized policies and procedures, ability to interpret and apply to the SDC operations
  • Skilled in successfully navigating a broad range of operational, procedural office and administrative problems which may at times require research, analysis, and evaluation of information may need to be solved
  • Possess ingenuity in developing solutions
  • Ability to interact at the highest levels within and outside the university, often in sensitive interpersonal situations
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or its equivalent AND five years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills in an academic environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, Psychology, or Information Technology
  • Three years of experience in an administrative professional role and/or event coordination
  • Proven accomplishment with web-based authoring and creativity tools, including eLearning authoring tools such as Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate Studio, Storyline, Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, etc. and the use of audio and video in creating learning programs
  • Experience with a utilizing and managing a learning management system; either cloud-based, self-host
  • Proficient in Adobe Sign, Canva, Concur, Drupal, Linkedln Learning, MailChimp, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Skillsoft, and Zoom
  • Certifications in instructional design, virtual facilitation, PMP (Project Management Professional), CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) and other related technical learning platforms.
  • Knowledge of learning management system (e.g., utilization, capabilities, limitations, best practices)
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to write error-free correspondence tailored to the intended audience
  • Knowledge of data analytics; track, analyze, and report learning metrics in a clear and concise manner
  • Knowledge to operate learning technologies and programs related to online courseware development, virtual training, online publishing programs, video editing, and other related tools
  • Knowledge to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere inside and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds
  • Effective communication skills to convey information clearly and understandably, both verbally and in writing with thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Knowledge to interpret, communicate and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Effective organizational and time management skills; ability to operate with minimal supervision to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn University infrastructure, policies, and procedures quickly
  • Flexible and adaptable; resourceful, proactive problem-solver who can anticipate the next steps, take the initiative, exercise discretion, and sound judgment
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Salary: Please note two ranges are listed below, the classification salary range and anticipated hiring range. Although the classification salary range is broader, the anticipated hiring range is the amount budgeted for this position.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,440 - $3,685 per month
Classification Salary Range: $3,440 - $5,639 per month
