POSITION SUMMARY

Process, compile and post employee time and payroll data to the payroll system. Compute employees' time worked, production, and commission. Compute and post wages and deductions. Responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development with a major area of focus in employee relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strong knowledge of payroll and payroll taxes (federal and multi state local).
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws.
  • Strong experience with establishing withholding and unemployment tax accounts. Tax jurisdiction configuration/set up.
  • Responsible for accurate set up and system maintenance of SUI rates, tax jurisdictions by work location, both state and local and verification of employee work-in / resident state taxes when they differ.
  • Responsible for running queries to audit the taxes and allocations for each payroll.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and compiles reports from database.
  • High volume of data entry. Process, verify, and maintain personnel related documentation, including all onboarding and payroll status changes.
  • Examine employee files to answer inquiries and provide information for personnel actions.
  • Answer questions regarding eligibility, salaries, benefits, and other pertinent information.
  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Gathers information for legal hearings (e.g. Worker’s Compensation, unemployment, etc.).
  • Implements and interprets management policies and operating practices for the purpose of achieving department objectives and ensuring compliance with administrative requirements.
  • Prepares written materials for the purpose of providing documentation and/or conveying information.
  • Responds to inquiries from employees and/or external parties for the purpose of resolving issues, facilitating communication among parties, and/or providing information or direction.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) preferred

Experience: Two to four years related experience, preferably processing payroll in multiple states with a similar workforce size; hospitality industry preferred

Computer Skills: Proficiency Microsoft Office suite
