* Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately.

* Maintain office security by controlling access via the reception desk such as issuing and/or collecting visitor badges and maintaining visitor logs.

* Answer, screen, and forward incoming calls.

* Prepare correspondence in accordance with agency regulations.

* Inform visitors and applicants by answering or referring inquiries.

* Obtain applicant information to process entrance documents from individuals who are enlisting/re-enlisting into the military service.

* Manage projection scheduling lists that records applicant processing requirements.

* Perform records management of electronic and paper applicant records.

* Utilize several military personnel database systems to update and/or maintain information to ensure the most current and accurate data available.

* Utilize an automated system to fingerprint individuals in order to initiate background check.

* Operate a variety of office automation equipment.to prepare enlistment and other military personnel documents.

* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

* Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent will be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.

* This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of entering the position and/or as required.

* Some positions may have a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of less than 25% of the time.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Maintaining applicant records by updating account information; 2) Obtaining data from applicants for completion of personnel records; 3) Capturing applicant's fingerprints for pre-employment background checks; and 4) Utilizing office automation software programs to accomplish tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
