Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is Hiring a Communications Assistant Near Washington, DC

Communications Assistant
Overview: The Communications Assistant works with the DSCC’s Communications Department to execute some of the most important functions of the department. The Communications Assistant is responsible for media monitoring, ensuring coordination across the entire team including intern workload, and completing administrative responsibilities. Ideal candidates have strong writing skills, an ability to multitask, are detail-oriented and ready to work in a fast-paced campaign-style environment.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Assisting the communications director and other members of the communications team in the overall running of the department including intern responsibilities.
  • Producing morning and evening news clips on national, state and local stories relevant to the 2024 battleground Senate races.
  • Monitoring and sharing real time clips and news developments throughout the day, including breaking news stories, tweets and other content.
  • Reviewing local TV coverage of battleground Senate candidates.
  • Assisting in the DSCC’s media relations, including monitoring incoming requests and serving as an initial point of contact for some media inquiries.
  • Writing communications materials, including drafts of weekly reports, press releases, talking points and other materials.
  • Maintaining newspaper and other subscriptions, national and state press lists, and contacts lists for staff and campaigns.
  • Assisting with the daily distribution and posting of releases and other forward facing communications materials.
  • Assisting in the coordination of the communications team’s work across departments.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
This position is based in DC. The Communications Assistant is expected to work out of the DSCC office located on Capitol Hill.
