Job Title: Junior Estimator
Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, TX 77034.
Primary FunctionThe Junior Estimator works closely with Engineering, Sales, and Project Management to determine the cost associated with completing the scope of work for a project. The Junior Estimator will collect and analyze data in order to estimate the labor, equipment, direct and indirect costs required for the execution of high voltage EPC projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
- Coordinate project negotiation kick-off meeting to define the scope and strategy of negotiations.
- Prepare, issue, receive and review proposals and pricing.
- Create and evaluate project negotiation schedules to ensure project timeline meets customer requirements.
- Analyze drawing specifications and other documents to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Evaluate and assess vendor and subcontract pricing in order to provide optimal value to the customer.
- Communicate all scope changes and pricing requirements to the team during the negotiation process.
- Input and review scope of submitted engineering bills of material.
- Generate project cash flow and project cancellation schedules.
- Perform material take-offs and estimate pricing as required in order to meet customer deadlines.
- Prepare comments and clarifications to further define scope of work.
- Attend project scope meetings and job site visits in order to provide final quality control for scope of work, material and labor pricing.
- Coordinate management review and finalize bid summaries.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
- Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
- Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
- Other duties as required.

- Knowledge of common word processing and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- This position requires minimal physical effort.
- Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
- Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%).
- Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
