Staff Accountant Duties and Responsibilities

Our Staff Accountant will have:

• Knowledge of and experience in 3-way match process for Accounts Payable, including a thorough understanding of the general ledger
• Cost accounting principles, up to and including: manufacturing process (raw materials > WIP > Finished Goods), inventory counting processes and procedures, item costing, and the effect of all of these on the general ledger/balance sheet/profit and loss.
• Working knowledge of balance sheet account reconciliations and vendor account statement reconciliations, as well as knowledge and understanding of the full accounting cycle.
• Investigative skills in researching and identifying errors in the general ledger, as well as proposing solutions for correction, as well as general analysis skills.
• Experience in issuing purchase orders, procurement, and receiving goods a major plus.

Experience that will be a plus:

• 2 years of full-cycle accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or public accounting
• Prepare payments by accruing expenses and assigning account numbers when needed
• ERP/Sage Experience
• Comfortable in Excel, including VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, and XLOOKUPS
• Comfortable reviewing the work of others

• Maintain and balance an automated consolidation system
• Analyze and verify information by creating spreadsheet reports
• Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining and recording and files
• Request disbursements and reconcile accounts

Staff Accountant Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
• 2 years of professional accounting experience
• Vendor and customer reconciliations experience
• Strict attention to detail, highly organized, and efficient
• Strong communication skills
