Crawford Company is Hiring a Director - Technical Operations Near Atlanta, GA

Position Summary

The Director of Technical Operations oversees teams that plan, organize, coordinate and participate in projects in response to client needs, requests and objectives. These projects can involve configuration changes or changes to code. They can involve applications, data feeds, reports, notifications or other technical components. The role can also be involved in special projects that require a leader with deep technical and business domain understanding as well as business process changes.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages data moving into and out of systems (reports, feeds that are internal>external or external>internal). This includes ETL.
  • Coordinates with Development for feature enhancements needed to allow enhancement to tech ops tools.
  • Collaborates with Operations, Support and Development for data processing and interface changes required for success.
  • Provides input to product design and technical direction based on feedback from customers and operations staff.
  • Manages staff development as well as the day-to-day activities of one or more teams of software and business system analysts, in multiple locations, in implementing client product specifications.
  • Prepares and submits periodic status reports to Senior Vice President of Technology & Analytics and assists in budget preparation and financial projections.
  • Prepares complex project proposals including detailed specification requirements, budgets, sequence timelines, resource allocations and contingencies.
  • Analyzes user requirements and designs programs and applications from specifications.
  • Develop new and innovative system interfaces.
  • Writes code for applications and maintenance programs that run on assigned hardware and databases.
  • Designs screens, reports, databases, files and other system components.
  • Installs, tests and maintains applications.
  • Develops customized ad-hoc reports as requested by clients.
  • Specifies dynamic interfaces
  • Reviews technical journals and business publications and attends conferences to stay in touch with marketplace changes and developments.
  • Upholds the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business administration or insurance, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in information systems development and database management systems or the equivalent in Master's or PhD education plus experience.
  • Must complete continuing education requirements as outlined by Crawford Educational Services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk management concepts, principles, and technology.
  • Understands principles and practices of systems analysis and design.
  • Ascertains acumen of insurance business, statistical and office procedures commonly supported by applications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of methods and techniques for performing quality assurance testing of systems.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis methods, techniques and tools.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of database design concepts and standard database software.
  • Knowledge of standard methodology for developing program and user documentation.
  • Possesses knowledge of methods and techniques for troubleshooting and determining the causes of applications problems and errors.
  • Performs business rule and process analyses and reaches sound, logical conclusions regarding user client needs and business requirements.
  • Understands and applies the analysis of functional requirements to the development of systems proposals and recommendations for efficient, cost-effective information systems and technology solutions.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves systems problems.
  • Sets priorities and organize work to complete project responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships with managers and end users.
  • Reads, interprets, explains and applies technical information on business processes, software and hardware for technical and non-technical users.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively to diverse audiences of technical and non-technical personnel, orally and in writing.
  • Prepares clear, concise and comprehensive specifications, reports, documentation, studies and other written materials.
  • Exercises sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
  • Uses tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive, complex and/or confidential issues and situations.
  • Establishes and maintains highly effective working relationships with all levels of corporate staff and management, clients, vendors, contractors and others encountered in the course of work.
