JOB SUMMARY

The Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting and handling sales opportunities. The Sales Manager conducts day-to-day activities related to sales with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives while achieving their personal sales goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers to enable future bookings. Activities could include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
  • Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and develop new leads for property business.
  • Participate in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked such as generating proposals, writing contracts, and corresponding with customers.
  • Use knowledge of market trends and target customer information to maximize revenue.
  • Identify new business to achieve personal and location revenue goals.
  • Understand the overall market, competitor strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc. and know how to sell against them.
  • Close the best opportunities for the location based on market conditions and business needs.
  • Gain an understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations.
  • Serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, and offer solutions.
  • Execute the Brand and Company Customer Service Standards.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity.
  • Provide pleasant and professional services to all guests.
  • Comply with safety and security procedures that protect associates, guests and company assets.
  • Maintain on-going communication and collaboration with all departments with the aim of achieving high levels of cooperation and service excellence.
  • Properly maintain all work equipment, tools and supplies.
  • Responsible for knowing and complying with all items on the position's training checklist.
  • Comply with all Department, Hotel, Brand, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any assigned task the associate has the ability to perform.

WORK CONDITIONS

Work is performed indoors in office environment. Travel to and from customers, events, trade shows, etc. required to support business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to provide, receive, and comprehend verbal and written instructions and information.
  • Must be friendly, reliable, and assertive with the ability to maintain poise under pressure.
  • Must be able to work independently or with others.
  • Proper social demeanor, attention to detail, commitment to quality, and passion for serving others is essential.
  • Must be able to process information through computer systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Previous experience with a Marriott Brand preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years Hotel Sales experience required.
  • Must be able to move or handle items, such as guest luggage, carts, etc. generally weighing 0-40 lbs.
