SUMMARY: The Sales Manager provides sales leadership in support of budgeted/forecasted sales, contribution margin, and net profit budgets. The Sales Manager leads location managers and Sales Specialists. This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides exemplary leadership, training, motivation, encouragement, support, and guidance to location leaders and Sales Specialists in order to best grow sales and ensure quotas are met by means of:

o Scheduled sales training,

o Preparation of Customer quotes.

o New SKU introductions.

o Weekly new customer additions,

o Creating additional sales/revenue in specific areas to increase profitability.

  • Assists Leadership Team in:

o Reviewing and analyzing periodic sales reports to forecast sales, contribution margin and net profits.

o Identifying potential new location markets and products.

o Budgeting and scheduling advertising.

  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and managing location leadership and Sales Specialists.

o Maintaining positive pricing habits and additional upselling techniques (where they make sense for the customer and the organization) in order to ensure maximum contribution margin and net profitability growth.

  • Guides leaders and Sales Specialists in the process of prospecting and solidifying new funeral and crematory Customers.
  • Continuously trains new and existing location managers and Sales Specialists in sales related activities.
  • Creates relationships with customers to constantly learn how to best assist with their needs by gathering data and identifying potential new products.
  • Schedules/approves location leadership and Sales Specialist vacations to ensure seamless experience for Customers; ensures backups are in place as needed.
  • Supports Chief Financial Officer and Leadership Team as to sales incentive compensation.
  • Supports the preparation of quotes and proposals, both intercompany and with external Customers as needed.
  • Coordinates sales execution planning alongside leadership.
  • Conducts periodic accountability reviews, sometimes working in conjunction with leadership team, to assist in guiding leaders and Sales Specialists.
  • Encourages team to develop positive upselling techniques (where they make sense for the Customer and the organization) to ensure maximum profitability and margin protection.
  • Supports managers and Sales Specialists at regional and national conventions, events, and trade shows relevant to the organization.
  • Provides support to managers including but not limited to: taking and processing orders, preparing and sending correspondence and marketing materials, ordering and managing inventory, verifying website accuracy, and ensuring customer needs are fulfilled on a daily and weekly basis including the potential to operate up to a 26’ box truck to make deliveries.
  • Exhibits regular and predictable attendance.
  • Assures safe practices are implemented and always followed.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position manages location leaders and Sales Specialists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a high school diploma/GED. An associate degree in Sales/Business (or relevant degree/experience) is also required.
  • Experience within sales and management is required.
  • At least three to five years of experience working within national sales management is preferred.
  • Marketing experience is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Has the ability to read, comprehend and write the English language.
  • Possesses exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Possesses strong reasoning skills, including the ability to forward think, analyze problems, and identify, implement, and rationalize solutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend and twist for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs., and otherwise maneuver product weighing up to 200 lbs. using proper provided equipment (forklift, pallet jack, casket jockey) to successfully manage inventory and load trucks (upon completion of forklift training and certification program).
  • Routinely travels to Service Centers up to 75% of the time including assistance with inventory management as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment described below is representative of the surroundings an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Works primarily in an office setting and at times within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that is not temperature regulated and can be loud in some areas.
