Cottingham & Butler is Hiring a Compensation Consultant Near Appleton, WI

We are looking to add a talented and experienced Compensation & HR Consultant to our team. This role will be client facing and support all client compensation needs. Carlson Dettmann Consulting, a Cottingham & Butler Company, is a management consulting firm with primary expertise in compensation strategies, employee relations, and related human resources services. We understand the diverse needs of public sector, private sector, for-profit, and not-for-profit organizations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for selling and providing compensation, total rewards, and human resources counsel to client organizations in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Learn about client’s business challenges and issues relating to employee total rewards issues through investigative research and interactions with client staff and leaders.
  • Determine the specific type and scope of consulting work to be deployed to solve client business problems and maps out schedules, milestones and required resources to meet jointly agreed-upon project objectives. .
  • Identify core issues, collect and analyze any pertinent data, identify policy, compliance, and business issues and make recommendations on addressing those issues.
  • Conduct internal statistical analyses of organizations’ compensation data and external market benchmarking of compensation levels.
  • Develop and design formal compensation systems.
  • Model financial impact of compensation system recommendations.
  • Develop and carry out communications to the client company’s senior stakeholders, staff and internal and external project work teams.
  • Monitor compensation, total rewards, and human resources trends.
  • Provide outsourced compensation services to clients for job evaluations, salary adjustments, re-organizations, job description development, independent contractor reviews, job title recommendations, and other classification and compensation issues
  • Participate in broader projects including performance management, employee experience, employee benefits, retirement, healthcare, performance optimization, and cash/non-cash reward and recognition
  • Participate in marketing and business development initiatives including developing compensation work and methodology approaches, writing and supporting proposals, and conducting surveys
  • Contribute to thought leadership and the development of firm perspectives on a variety of total rewards topics

To be successful in this role, preferred candidates should have extensive compensation knowledge, prior consulting experience, and experience working within a variety of private-sector industries. CCP, SHRM, Gallup certifications preferred. Travel is required to be onsite with clients.
