Clinical Manager (Ophthalmology Practice)

We are seeking an experienced clinical manager for our ophthalmology practice serving patients in the Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD Metro Area. For consideration, the candidate must be a Certified Ophthalmology Technician and have five plus years of management experience in a healthcare setting.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the clinical operations of our ophthalmology practice. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to accepted standards, and efficient clinic workflows. The Clinical Manager collaborates with physicians, staff, and patients to maintain excellence in clinical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management:
  • Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Oversee the training and development of our clinical technician team.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
  • Patient Care Oversight:
  • Oversee ophthalmic patient care, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Implement and maintain protocols for patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards and best practices.
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Optimize clinic workflows to enhance patient experience.
  • Coordinate clinic functions, including scheduling, patient flow, and resource allocation.
  • Address operational challenges promptly.
  • Internal Education:
  • Provide ongoing education to the clinical technician team.
  • Keep the team informed about new protocols, guidelines, and industry updates.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Chart Audits and Quality Improvement:
  • Perform quarterly chart audits to assess documentation accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate recommendations for process improvement to the team.
  • Collaborate with physicians on quality initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical management, preferably in ophthalmology.
  • Must hold a certificate as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and guide a clinical team.
  • In-depth knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, protocols, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
