Con Edison Company of New York is Hiring a Project Manager Near New York, NY

Mission Statement

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive inclusion of diverse suppliers in the strategic sourcing activities across all spend categories.
  • This position will define necessary processes and activities associated with effective best practices and capabilities for Supplier Diversity Programs.
  • Monitor product and service contracts to ensure minority and women owned business enterprises are included in RFP and bidding process.
  • Monitor and track diverse supplier certifications to ensure they are current.
  • Work closely with System wide business owners, and other key stakeholders (local Chambers of Commerce, CDFI's, Certifying Agencies, etc.) in pursuit of enhanced and target spend, and participation goals related to diversity.
  • Serve as the liaison to diversity business partners, Business Units, and Departments.
  • Coordinate internal supplier diversity programs to introduce diverse suppliers to key leaders and procurement decision makers.
  • Assist in the enhancement of analyzing and reporting of metrics that drive diversity spending at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 level.
  • Develop and implement internal supplier diversity awareness and education programs.
  • Prepare supplier diversity reports and presentations for internal and external communications.
  • Represents the Company at diverse supplier trade shows, conferences, and workshops.
  • Active participation and engagement on diverse supplier advocacy organization boards, planning committees and mentoring initiatives.
  • Serve on Company Supplier Diversity Council.
  • Develop metrics to ensure the equitable inclusion of diverse suppliers.
  • Ensure adoption of evolving Supplier Diversity practices, including developing a communication campaign.
  • Manage the training associated with practices, processes, and tools.
  • Responsible for verifying the minority/woman-owned business status of prospective and current Con Edison vendors including site visits to the vendor locations.
  • Perform evaluations of new suppliers including basic financial viability, capacity, and suitability of goods & services offered.
  • Responsible for preparation of the Supplier Diversity Program's monthly expenditures report and for assisting with the preparation of various internal and external reports (including governmental agencies and the Board of Directors).
  • Develop and maintain effective reporting infrastructure to ensure reliability of Supplier Diversity data and credibility of the Supplier Diversity Program.
  • Support Director on developing MWBE forecasting models and analysis using Oracle, BI, and Tableau databases.
  • Responsible for identifying and driving opportunities for diverse vendor outreach efforts.
  • Identify various methods to reports contributions made by Supplier Diversity Program such as savings, and economic growth with MWBE communities.
  • Participate in seminars and community events with vendors, customers and community leaders to support vendor diversity programs and initiatives. Some of these activities will take place during evening hours.
  • Implement seminars to educate vendors and internal users on methods, industry regulations, governmental policies and procedures related to Supplier Diversity Program.
  • Review compliance reports related to buyer submissions of bid lists.
  • Responsible for managing the General Services Administration program for the company- acting as the small business liaison, training procurement staff, updating management on federal changes, developing small business plans and reporting small business spend as required.
  • Lead ongoing strategic-level implementation and monitoring of the Supplier Diversity Program's requirements for company and federal compliance.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to develop and support procurement strategies to increase the level of diverse spend.
  • Manage multiple projects in support of the achievement of annual program and KPI goals.
  • Responsible for implementation and management of Supplier Diversity software tools.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years related business work experience or
  • Master's Degree and 6 years related business work experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint. Required
  • 3-5 years Relevant work experience in procurement, financial analysis/accounting, supplier diversity or a related field. Required
  • Must be proficient in the use of excel-related tasks for data analysis and data management. Required
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to manage competing priorities and still meet critical timelines. Required
  • Demonstrated ability to use creative thinking to analyze data, summarize trends, and exercise independent judgment to render sound business decisions. Required
  • Must have strong communication skills (written/verbal) and have proficiency creating PowerPoint presentations. Required
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of the enterprise and cultivate positive external relationships with key stakeholders. Required
  • Experience in developing and implementing process improvements. Required
  • Advanced Supplier Relationship Management. Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
  • Responsible for travel to various company and supplier locations; some of which may require overnight travel.
  • Must be available to perform off-hour emergency functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
