Description
The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks.
The Office of Communications has an immediate need to fill a Communications Specialist position in Franklin County.
The Communications Specialist, possessing the specified qualifications and responsibilities, is tasked with enriching the communication capabilities of the Office of Communications and actively contributing to the success of the Kentucky Court of Justice. The incumbent in this position reports to the Communications Director and works closely with the Office of Communications’ staff.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Manage and update content for the KCOJ's website, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
  • Establish and oversee procedures for content review and regular updates across various online platforms.
  • Create and develop engaging, relevant content to enhance overall online presence and user experience.
  • Align content creation with organizational goals and vision.
  • Utilize strong copy-editing skills to produce high-quality, error-free content.
  • Adhere to established style guidelines in written communications.
  • Take responsibility for streamlining workflow related to online content postings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive communication strategy.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with maturity and discretion.
  • Navigate complexities within the organization with professionalism.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance overall skill set and contribute to high-level projects.
  • Implement best practices for effective communication.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and suggest improvements to communication strategies.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in communication processes.
  • Demonstrate autonomy in executing tasks related to online content management and development.
  • Support various initiatives within the KCOJ.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree (Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related field)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: 2 years of job related experience
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Associate Degree with four (4) years of related experience OR HS Diploma with six (6) years of related experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Strong research, writing, and editing skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and application of Association Press Style writing. Experience in journalism or other communication fields, and knowledge of graphic design, photography, and videography a plus.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Some in-State travel required.
