Job Description:
This role is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Mechanic and part shop business, ensuring that all departments are functioning efficiently, managing shop budgets, and supervising managers and supervisors to ensure they are meeting their goals and responsibilities. Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate, cost-effective way to improve operational management systems, processes and best practices. Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee warehouse efficiency and help the organization’s processes remain legally compliant.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the commercial truck and trailer repair shop
- Oversee and coordinate repair and maintenance services for all commercial vehicles
- Manage and train a team of technicians and support staff
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity
- Ensure compliance with all safety and industry regulations
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service and address customer inquiries and concerns
- Monitor and analyze shop performance and implement strategies to improve profitability
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
- Manage budget and expenses for the repair shop and parts department
- Conduct regular meetings with staff to communicate goals and expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned
1. Overseeing Operations: You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the truck repair shop. This includes coordinating repairs, scheduling maintenance, and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
2. Supervising Staff: You will be in charge of supervising the repair shop staff, including mechanics and technicians. You will need to ensure that they are performing their duties effectively and provide guidance as needed.
3. Managing Inventory: You will be responsible for managing the inventory of truck parts and supplies. This includes ordering new parts, tracking inventory levels, and ensuring that the shop has the necessary equipment and tools to perform repairs.
4. Ensuring Quality Control: You will need to implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that all repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations. This includes conducting regular inspections.
5. Handling Customer Relations: You will be the main point of contact for customers, addressing any concerns or issues they may have. You will need to provide excellent customer service and ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner.
6. Maintaining Safety Standards: You will need to enforce safety protocols and ensure that all staff members follow safety guidelines. This includes providing training on safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
7. Managing Budget and Costs: You will be responsible for managing the shop's budget, tracking expenses, and identifying areas for cost-saving measures. You will need to ensure that the shop operates within budgetary constraints.
8. Implementing Process Improvements: You will be expected to identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity. This may include streamlining workflows, implementing new technologies, or improving communication systems.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
- 2 years in a management role
- Strong knowledge of commercial truck and trailer repair industry
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in use of technology and other relevant software and ability to learn new software quickly
