Job Summary:

We are looking for highly qualified candidates with excellent line cooking skills and customer service skills. We take pride in what we serve to our museum visitors and in how we serve food to them. We’re looking for candidates to join our Café Team! Please note: This is a bargaining unit position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Experience cooking commercially.
2.  Prepare all menu items daily for Cafe.
3. Report food, beverage, and supply needs to the Chef for ordering on a timely basis, daily, if needed.
4. Responsible for the orderliness, cleanliness, and sanitation of Café food prep work areas.
5. Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations 
6. Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks
7. Plating prepared foods based on the chef’s specs. 
8. Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time. 
9. Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
10. Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations. 
11. Follows the posted daily cook cleaning duties. 
12. Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed. 
13. Accomplishes all job duties while adhering to all safety guidelines and practices throughout the shift. 
14. Reports any unsafe condition, unsafe act, accidents, and/or injuries to the manager on duty. 
15. Sweeps, mops, and takes out the trash at the end of the evening.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma required.
2. Professional cooking experience in restaurants and catering.
3. Appreciate and understand the purpose, and mission of the Museum.
4. Quality and service-oriented.
5. Exhibit professionalism in attire, work habits, and communication.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Must be able to use your hand to touch, handle and feel in the process of cooking. Must be able to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift 10 to 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a busy kitchen setting. Staff members must handle knives, dishes, and heavy pots and pans, some of which may be hot. The work environment has quiet to moderate noise levels.
