Overview

We have a career opportunity for a HR Generalist I to join our team!

The successful candidate will provide professional support and expertise in the administration of a broad range of human resources functions or programs for a specified business unit or division. The position serves as a human resources business partner by providing strategic and operational support for both management and front-line employees including but not limited to Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Policy Administration, Performance Management, and Legal Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the coordination of human resources functions or programs including, but not limited to, recruitment and staffing, employee relations, job evaluation, and performance management.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Participates in hiring and recruitment fairs.
  • Develop and maintain a network of recruiting contacts.
  • Investigates and resolves routine issues and employee concerns.
  • Provides guidance and assistance regarding human resources policies and procedures for managers and employees.
  • Prepares and reviews routine reports i.e. new hire/terminations, new hire reporting, attendance, seniority, etc.
  • Recommends revisions or modifications of human resources policies to meet the needs of the company.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientations; coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience.
  • Represents company for any unemployment claims.
  • Stays current on federal and state laws, and regulations to ensure the company’s human resources programs are effective and consistent with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with departmental managers to discuss HR-related topics.
  • Maintain employee related databases as superuser for: Oracle HRMS, iCIMS, OTL, MSS and ESS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRMS and ATS systems.
  • Tact, and proven ability to deal with difficult situations.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration with 3 years of experience in multiple human resources disciplines.
  • Experience with HRMS and ATS systems.
  • General knowledge of HR policies and procedures. 

Preferred Requirements:

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a union environment a plus.
