Charah Solutions Inc. is Hiring a Materials Sales Director Near Charlotte, NC

Overview

The Materials Sales Director will be responsible for the procurement and sales of international and domestic material product lines supporting a customer portfolio mainly centered in cement manufacturing and abrasives end-use markets. This position will conduct market research to evaluate and develop sourcing options, enhance customer networks, create procurement and sales strategies, negotiate contracts, understand pricing trends and provide forecasting models to fully develop product offerings aligned with the company’s portfolio. The Materials Sales Director will work directly with the Logistics team to evaluate procurement timing, contract risk and overall deal economics ensuring bottom line profitability and appropriate inventory management. The position requires significant travel (50% - 80%) to develop opportunities, manage existing accounts and maintain effective business relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Continually maintain market knowledge to identify and present initiatives and value-added ideas supporting growth of the business and ensuring supply-side dynamics are aligned with customer demand expectations.
  • Coordinate with Regional Sales Managers to determine product needs and quality specifications.
  • Locate, investigate and secure new raw materials suitable for customer portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain territory intelligence, identifying market size, customers, and competitors.
  • Forecast supply availability and establish pricing mechanisms supporting overall corporate financial goals.
  • Participate in trade association meetings.
  • Work to resolve customer issues, problems, and concerns in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business as well as possess strong negotiating and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively perform both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team with a commitment to cooperation and collaboration among business functions.
  • Must possess strong oral and written skills.
  • Must be adept in statistical analysis and market research.
  • Must possess integrity, leadership, decision-making, and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the cement or supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) industry preferred.
  • Experience with transportation - rail, trucking, and barge preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Work Environment & Conditions

  • This position requires working in the internal and external environment.
  • Must be able to travel as required, including overnight travel.
  • Must maintain a flexible work schedule including the capacity to work non-standard hours as needed.
  • Must be self-directed and disciplined to set own schedule to effectively manage time ensuring the needs of clients and the sales team are met in a timely manner.
  • Must have the ability to sustain business relationships which encourage openness, candor, and trust both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to maintain privileged information in a confidential manner.
  • The candidate will represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Must be execution-focused with the ability to take individual responsibility for delivering quality work in a deadline driven environment with a high level of precision.
  • Must be able to quickly analyze, interpret, and compare detailed information.
  • Strong safety compliance and safety orientation.
