Carpet City Flooring Center is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Near Wausau, WI

Carpet City Flooring Center is seeking a corporate HR Specialist to join the energetic and growing team to oversee all aspects of human resources. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and knowledgeable about employment laws and best practices. The HR Specialist will play a crucial role in recruiting, evaluating, and supporting employees.

Be a resource and provide support to staff when complex, specialized, sensitive questions and situations arise.

Responsibilities & skills:

1) Recruitment and Talent Management:

  • Post job openings & screen resumes.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and maintain top talent.
  • Conduct interviews in collaboration with management to assess candidates' suitability for roles.
  • Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and policy training programs for new hires.

2) Performance Evaluation and Management:

  • Conduct constructive performance evaluations with metrics for commissioned employees.
  • Identify below average commissioned employees and implement an improvement plan with management.
  • Identify key performance indicators within the most success employees.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to address performance issues and implement improvement plans.
  • Manage disciplinary actions and terminations in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

3) Payroll and Benefits Administration:

  • Process payroll on a weekly/biweekly basis.
  • Monitor insurance expiration for independent contractors and communicate non-eligibility status to management.
  • Manage employee benefits enrollment elections, changes, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements.

4) Compliance and Legal Matters:

  • Address employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Assist with conflict resolution.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of labor laws and ensure proper display of required signage.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims, provide reasonable accommodations, and represent the company in escalated cases with legal counsel support.
  • Maintain accurate employee records.
  • Assist with audits and compliance reporting.

5) Employee Relation, Engagement, and Events:

  • Organize and participate in internal events to foster a positive work culture.
  • Represent Carpet City at job fairs and community events to attract potential candidates.
  • Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Be the face of HR and answer questions as needed.

6) HRIS Management and Training:

  • Quickly educate and train employees on the HRIS system as the primary employee portal to be used regularly.
  • Utilize HRIS for various HR functions, including onboarding, legal documents offboarding, and performance management.

7) Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare year-end statements for government agencies and 401k (QACA match).
  • Conduct audits related to onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Provide necessary quarterly reporting.
  • Develop and maintain accurate policies in the employee handbooks.
  • Makes sure all incident reporting is documented in a timely manner and

8) Continuous Improvement and Development:

  • Incorporate training programs to ensure employees are knowledgeable about relevant policies and insurance updates.
  • Continuously update employee handbooks and policies to align with current laws and best practices.
  • Incorporate training and OSHA compliance to help keep insurance costs low.
  • Open to perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in HR roles, with a strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • A Minimum of Three Years of Human Resource Management Experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and maintain confidential information with integrity.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite.
  • Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-CSP) highly desired.
  • Valid drivers license.
