Works collaboratively with the Teacher to care for eight children age 6 weeks to three years old.
Ensures the constant supervision, safety and health of children under his/her care while providing a comprehensive child development experience; may need to run after children to keep them safe.
Carries out activities on a daily basis and evaluate the effectiveness of child development experiences.
Engages children and encourages social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Adheres to policies, as outlined in the OEC licensing standards. Complies with child welfare regulations.
Maintains regular communication with parents/guardians, including written documentation.
Responds quickly to children’s different and personal needs (verbal and non-verbal cues), temperament styles, abilities, and cultures. Ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping, and transitioning between activities, and others.
Maintains appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards.
Maintains confidentiality, only discussing personal information with the appropriate individuals.
Understands children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
Observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, or other special need, and report these signs immediately to supervisor.
Ensure all center policies and regulations are met and classroom environments adhere to Anti-Bias standards; ensure CREC Core values, Mission and Vision are upheld.
Participates in professional development and other required trainings.
Composes and reviews emails and utilizes Outlook calendar.
Interacts in a positive and encouraging manner; Leads by example and encourages teaching team’s success through modeling and coaching.
Believes in having fun; Is always learning, growing, and striving to be better.
Must be 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or GED.
Must maintain job eligibility status as governed by the Office of Early Childhood. Must be willing to advance education if requirements increase.
At least one-year experience working in an ECE group care setting.
An understanding of child development and age appropriate expectations.
First Aid, CPR/AED certificate from an approved course by Office of Early Childhood prior to start date or completed during the first 90 days of employment.
Experience working with children and family of diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) to foster a team environment
Ability to speak/understand Spanish a plus.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
Ability to lift/carry young children, up to 50 lbs.
Ability to take frequent walks, bend, stoop, stretch, squat, kneel, push, pull, crawl and sit on low chairs as part of child care work environment. Must be able to talk to and hear voices at many levels.
Ability to detect unsafe situations by sight or sound and react quickly to intervene
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
