Description of Service Opportunity: Coordinator will: Maintain overall administration of the program. They will supervise, inform, and support students participating in the program. They will work closely and collaboratively with Facilitators. The coordinator will be responsible for creating a nurturing environment that emphasizes math investigative learning, mathematical discourse, personal growth and cultural diversity. The coordinator will also provide instruction to students as needed. Create documentation to ensure all scholars enrolled are accounted for and making progress through Modules. Outreach to families and scholars when necessary. Manage the MYSEP students, and ensure they are being paid for their time. Oversee Facilitating Teachers discussions and provide supports when necessary. Hold a weekly meeting with Facilitating Teachers to troubleshoot and allow for professional development. Create, edit, and develop any and all module content that is necessary for Facilitating Teachers. Coordinator will ensure that Facilitating Teachers are: Create and foster relationships with students to help identify equitable needs and ensure each student is making progress through modular learning. Facilitate a WEEKLY hour-long student driven discussions and activities to foster the use of academic and mathematical discourse Facilitate and coach each student in the cohort during WEEKLY 1-on-1 twenty minute check-ins. Maintain open communication with students as they progress through the modules (either using email or Remind) This doesn't have to be a daily check-in. But want to ensure students don't feel like they have to wait for the facilitator if they finish or have questions Host 1 hour optional for students Drop-in Office Hour? Review student thinking and overall student comprehension Desmos Activities will collect student's thinking and understanding McGraw Hill Check your Readiness will be auto graded and provide insight into any pre-8th grade content (ALEKs) McGraw Hill Practice will be auto graded and give a sense of overall comprehension and McGraw Hill End of Module Check-in will be auto graded and any glaring misconceptions will need to be addressed. Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement for students throughout modules Manage a Google Classroom for your students: Compensation: Coordinator will compile and deliver a 2 hour Pre-program onboarding meeting for all Facilitating Teachers and will be compensated for their time. On a weekly basis the Coordinator will be responsible for any and all communication. Coordinator will also be responsible for an in person support location at CRLS. This space will be available everyday from 8am-noon. (approx. 20 hours a week). This space will be available for scholars and staff alike. Minimum Requirements/Job Qualifications: Experience and confidence in remote teaching. Experience teaching middle school mathematics; Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university; knowledge teaching summer programs; experience dealing with diverse student populations and familiarity working in an urban setting preferred.
Length of Contract: July 1, 2023 - August 18, 2023
Contract Amount: $40.00 per hour, Not to exceed $6,600.00
