buildOn is Hiring a Digital Marketing Manager Near Oakland, CA

Reports to: Director of Digital Fundraising & Marketing

Location: Oakland, CAThis position is not remote in NY/NJ & CT the greater metropolitan area. It is only open to authorized workers in the United States who reside in existing buildOn regions, as listed above.

FLSA: Full Time/Exempt

Schedule: Monday-Friday with weekday evenings and/or Saturdays required, up to 10% domestic and international travel required

Digital Marketing Manager

As a member of buildOn's marketing team, the Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for contributing to the strategy and managing the execution of the buildOn donor journey from awareness to advocacy for current and potential small, mid-level, and major gift donors, using strong digital marketing, storytelling, and communications skills. This position will play a pivotal role in creating content and stories, digital fundraising campaigns, and stewardship tools to grow and maintain giving to buildOn. Our goal is to ensure that every donor and partner understands the profound impact of their contribution and knows that they are an integral member of our movement. 

The Digital Marketing Manager will report to the Director of Digital Marketing & Fundraising. They will work in close partnership with the Vice President of Marketing and the Development team. This position is an excellent opportunity to put your skills in traditional and digital marketing, storytelling, and fundraising into practice empowering youth to transform their communities around the world through service and education.

Responsibilities 

  • Manage the digital marketing and communication strategy of the five-step buildOn Donor Journey for segments of small, mid-level, and major gift donors - Awareness (1), Consideration (2), Conversion (3), Loyalty (4), Advocacy (5). 
  • Co-create and execute digital fundraising campaigns for target audiences across email, social media, website, digital advertising, and other channels.
  • Serve as buildOn’s social media lead, responsible for owning the social strategy including the content calendars, creating and scheduling content, sparking and participating in conversations with supporters, and building new followers.
  • Create content and content plans utilizing blogs/web content, social content, email content, and more. 
  • Collaborate with the team on the email communication strategy for key segments of buildOn supporters.
  • Develop and optimize automated marketing journeys using PARDOT and Salesforce.
  • Measure, analyze, and optimize your efforts using marketing analytics best practices and KPIs, in particular growing the engagement rate of social media channels.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or fundraising. 
  • Experience in the nonprofit industry preferred, but consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate skills and experience in for-profit in growing engaged constituent communities. 
  • Experience managing engaging social media accounts.
  • Superior writing and editing skills, as well as experience with email marketing and marketing automation platforms (Pardot or similar), social media platforms, web basics, SEM/SEO, and the Adobe Creative Suite, are a must. 
  • Experience writing and developing content for customer/donor conversion. 
  • WordPress, HTML, and other programming languages are a plus. 
  • The ability to tell stories through video/film or photography is a plus.
