The Data Strategist is a critical member of the Known Consumer Marketing team. They are responsible for acquiring first party data, enriching our first party data and ensuring we’re improving value creation in Paid Media. Across these three areas (acquisition, enrichment and First Party Data activation), the Data Strategist’s over-arching responsibilities include: Build best-in-class capabilities: set goals and learning agendas, embed 1PD into current processes, institutionalize standard methodologies, and continuously evolve and innovate in this space, Manage paid acquisition campaigns for the enterprise: plan and implement various acquisition campaigns, project handle technical teams and optimize media in partnership with the BUs and Analytics Deliver maximum business value: make First Party Data more useful via 3rd party data enrichment, drive adoption of 1PD Paid Media activation and embed measurement and analytics wherever possible. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, technology and where those two things meet the consumer. They should be consumer-obsessed and driven by delivering business results. Since this role sits within the larger Marketing Transformation team, a capability-innovation team embedded within Marketing @ Clorox, the ideal candidate should be motivated by changing and making tomorrow better than today. This position reports directly to the Director of Known Consumer Marketing. In this role, you will: Key Responsibilities (in descending order of importance): Lead First Party Data acquisition for the enterprise Be Clorox’s Subject Matter Authority on all things First Party Data acquisition. Establish annual BU acquisition goals and provide tracking (relative to annual goals as well as our FY25 100M goal). Understand key drivers of performance and make recommendations on acquisition tactics to drive lower cost per acquisition balanced with quality. Design Brand specific First Party Data acquisition plans to bring in all the right data, as determined by Brand’s pivotal initiatives and goals. Make recommendations to Brands on efficient partners to work with to acquire data. Handle tactical execution of Paid Acquisition campaigns, partnering with various teams including Data Operations, internal or external agencies, Human Insights and Brand Engagement, Data Privacy, Legal and IT. Work with relevant external and internal partners to maintain Paid Acquisition campaign reporting that ultimately help us understand vendor performance. Make recommendations on future campaign optimizations. Identify and work with the team to embed high-impact process optimizations across our data and tech operations. Continuously bring in external thinking and evolve/innovate Clorox’s acquisition capability. Drive adoption of First Party Data targeting in Paid Media Educate BUs and agency partners on how best to leverage 1PD in Paid Media – when to use lookalike targeting vs. retargeting, how to think about scale versus quality, when to use email vs. cookie targeting, etc. Continue to optimize BE and MTT processes to incorporate First Party Data targeted Paid Media. Conduct regular meta-analyses of 1PD targeted Paid Media, in partnership with our agency and Analytics Data Enrichment Consolidate and prioritize data enrichment requests from the BUs. Handle tactical execution of data enrichment in partnership with the Data Ops team. Handle third party data enrichment end to end including vendor management, negotiations, billing and invoicing, etc. Continue to understand the impact data enrichment has on the BUs, such as what use cases it unlocks. Ensure Clorox is follows all current legal and data privacy considerations when it comes to what enriched data we can store internally. Strong project management skills: able to balance multiple campaigns for several brands at the same time Diligent: Able to drill-in and understand the complicated intricacies of the required marketing technology ecosystem to support 1PD. Strong communicator: able to understand sophisticated concepts but communicate them simply and directly to partners of varying knowledge and levels Standout colleague: able to grow and maintain strong, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external partners across Marketing, IT and Tech, and Legal. Education Level/Degree: 5-10 years experience in Consumer Data, First Party Data or CRM data with particular focus on: data acquisition and integrations activating first party data for marketing first party data analytics or insights Hands-on experience working directly or indirectly with different adtech/martech/data platforms such as a DMP or DSP, database or data lake environments, etc. Direct experience or confirmed understanding of Digital marketing and/or analytics Detailed understanding of marketing technology landscape and trends including; 3rd party ad server technologies, Google Web Analytics, ComScore, IRI, publisher side ad technologies and web tracking tools Workplace type: Hybrid - 1 day a week in Oakland, CA or Remote U.S. We seek out and celebrate diverse backgrounds and experiences. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area. –Zone A: $121,900 - $240,100 –Zone B: $111,700 - $220,100 –Zone C: $101,600 - $200,100 All ranges are subject to change in the future.
