JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

Bud & Mary’s Missouri Production Manager leads the day-to-day packaging, labelling, sampling, storage and order fulfillment of finished cannabis products from the time dried flower and/or finished product is received to the point of sale. This position will also work closely with the laboratory and cultivation teams within our cannabis manufacturing facility. The Production Manager is responsible for creating packaging and sampling schedules and managing their execution within a large-scale manufacturing facility. He/she will use batch records and other written instructions to manage the packaging of finished cannabis products, labelling each packaged unit with all requirements of the appropriate Cannabis Regulatory Authority, packaging units into their respective case sizes, and safely storing finished products in a secured location before the point of sale. Other tasks include equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, maintaining an inventory of packaging consumables and collecting the appropriate number of samples at a desired frequency for in-house and third-party compliance testing.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s preferred

· 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or laboratory environment required

· Management experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Hire, train, mentor and motivate all associates on the packaging team.

· Establish and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the preparation, packaging, labelling, sampling, storage and order fulfillment of finished cannabis products in a large-scale cannabis manufacturing operation.

· Continuous improvement of established procedures and labor bottlenecks under the guidance of the Director of Processing and make any relevant changes to SOPs.

· Write, review and update SOPs and take lead on their implementation and training.

· Oversee continued training of team members.

· Ensuring orders are fulfilled from approved finished products that have passed all testing requirements of the appropriate Cannabis Regulatory Authority.

· Verifying external Cannabis spp. that is brought into the manufacturing facility meets internal specifications and communicating any discrepancies.

· Prepare and maintain a packaging schedule to ensure monthly production goals are met.

· Make sure labor is ready to package applicable finished products once they are formulated.

· Produce daily batch records for internal documentation that procedures were executed according to specification.

· Produce daily production reports for input into METRC.

· Summarize and archive all packaging batch records both electronically and hard copy.

· Collect and organize samples at the right interval and frequency for in-house and external testing according to the requirements of the appropriate Cannabis Regulatory Authority.

· Manage inventory of packaging supplies and consumables and execute ordering using existing accounts and suppliers.

· Develop a preventative maintenance schedule for critical pieces of equipment and coordinate downtime and labor for equipment maintenance.

· Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and maintain a good relationship with approved vendors to order parts and/or schedule maintenance in a timely manner.

· Identify and evaluate suppliers of raw materials, equipment and consumables for new and existing processes to reduce the cost of goods sold.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

· Organize and communicate all documentation associated with an order for budget tracking.

· Oversee any temporary labor that is brought into the facility to achieve monthly production goals. Ensure established procedures and facility protocols are executed.

· Submit ideas for accurately and efficiently packaging and labelling new finished products and assume responsibility for their success. Complete all necessary documentation, including but not limited to timelines, budgets and project spending authorizations.

· Communicate production results both internally and externally through oral presentations.

· Maintain detailed and organized Excel spreadsheets to track inventory, raw material and consumable usage and sampling of finished products for third party analysis.

· Have a collaborative attitude and work closely with other departments. Set high team expectations that will challenge associates and develop their skills on a daily basis.

· Assist with larger company operations, including receiving deliveries, facility maintenance and troubleshooting and maintaining general cleanliness in the packaging room and storage vault.

· Comply with all company policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.

PHYSICAL EFFORT NEEDED:

· Must be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours a day.

· Must be able to execute the same task for up to 8 hours a day.

· Must be able to work in hot or cold environments.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

· Must be able to handle expensive company assets from various positions (i.e., standing, bending, kneeling).

· Must be able to read and write numbers and letters and count

· Must be able to see in color.

· Must be able to hear at least 88 dBA.

TYPICAL NUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS:

· 2 - 4

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

· Exposure to Cannabis spp., dust, varying temperatures, humidity levels and light intensities, high decibel sounds and some solvents.

· Potential exposure to insects, pesticides and plant growth regulators.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

· Safety glasses, dust and surgical masks, ear protection, hair/beard nets, gloves, lab coat, chemical resistant sleeves

TRAVEL/FLEXIBILITY:

· Some travel may be required for training purposes and for staying abreast of industry developments.

· This is a salaried position. CEN Michigan expects some willingness to work outside of normal production hours for team development and to ensure production goals are met.
