Braver Angels is Hiring an Office Manager/Bookkeeper Near New York, NY

Office Manager Job Description
We are a small New York non-profit focused on bridging the political divide. We have built a
grassroots network of members and volunteers across the country where we offer depolarizing
workshops and debates at colleges, community organizations and even Congress. We have our
central office in NYC and a network of employees across the country. We are looking for a full time
bookkeeper/admin assistant. Your primary role will be to ensure that all financial activities are
executed in a timely and efficient manner. Secondary roles include office administration and
customer service. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who can work well independently.
This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
Bookkeeper
  • Download online donations from various accounts to record in Quickbooks
  • Prepare bank deposits and record donations in Quickbooks
  • Generate invoices for program service revenue and monitor AR payments
  • Enter Vendor bills and schedule payments
  • Record all payroll journal entries by program class in Quickbooks
  • Review and record credit card transactions, file receipts
  • Keep copies and files maintained for annual audit requirements
  • Assist the Director of Finance in gathering and submitting documents to the CPA for annual
audit and tax returns
Administrative assistant
  • Clerical duties including answering phones and emails - help direct members to the
appropriate program or person within the organization
  • Maintain office files including donor, grantor and vendor files
  • Scan copies of donor records to the Development team
  • Renew professional registrations and memberships
  • Maintain company insurance policies - manage renewals and audits
  • Maintain and order office supplies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years office administrative work required
  • 2 years nonprofit accounting experience preferred
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Personal integrity and great work ethic
